Cherry Eye Surgery So my lil Bella needs cherry eye surgery. Have any of you had this done before? What do you guys think I should do the pocket tuck or the removal. Any of you from Los Angeles area and recommend of a vet to take her |
Here is a brief post about the pros and cons of both: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/3720137-post7.html As the post indicates, removal means you will probably have to deal with dry eye because one of the tear ducts will be taken out. Dry eye requires daily drops to prevent corneal ulcers and other problems. The tuck is not always a permanent fix. I highly recommend going to an ophthalmologist for this. I've read really old threads on YT of successful surgeries, but I don't recall anyone mentioning which method they used. How long has Bella had the cherry eye? |
Here is one of the very old posts I referred to about a successful surgery, but no detail on which method was used: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/2578310-post4.html |

I took her in this week to the Vet Ophthalmologist and well of course I don't wanna do the removal of the cherry eye, so my lil Bella is gonna have the pocket tuck surgery. I also noticed her other eye with a small cherry eye. Took a picture of it and showed it to vet and he said that is a possible cherry eye as well. He will be doing both eyes. Yes the procedure is like $1400 more expensive, but I really didnt want the removal of the cherry eye. Wish my lil Bella luck her surgery will be next wednesday |

Either way...best wishes for next Wed. Keep us posted! :) |
Yes, I took a picture of her other eye because cherry eye pops in and out. She can have it today and might not have it the following day...They pop in and out. Quote:
