water consumption How much water should a 9 pound yorkie consume on a daily basis? My little eleven year old guy has a history of kidney stones and the vet is currently treating him for UTI. (he is on meds to prevent stones) He had urinalysis and x ray last week; no stones. Due to have another urinalysis in 2-3 weeks to make sure there are still no stones. I am just trying to keep a close watch on urine and water intake. Always a little worried about kidney failure due to the history with stones and I have read so much about kidney failure coming on so quickly; just want to keep a watchful eye on my boy. Thanks |
I honestly have found the best way to monitor for renal issues is through blood testing. For a senior pup I would think at least every 6 months...but you might want to ask your vet for an opinion on that. Often changes show up there before you see any real physical changes. |
