So happy to hear this news. |
Cookie had her dental today. Her yearly exam and blood work were done two days ago. Her albumin is 3.7 (ref range 2.7 - 4.4) and protein is 7 (ref range 5.0 - 7.4) Amazingly good!! :) |
Yay Cookie!!! |
Wonderful news for your dearest Cookie.I pray she gets this kind of news always and you are a great mom. Susan |
Thanks so much! I am so happy...When she was diagnosed it was just before Christmas 2011 ... I thought I would lose her before that Christmas. Then, as time went on, I dared to think about the next Christmas...and here we are almost six months past it and she is doing fantastic. I am so blessed! :) |
Wonderful news! I am very happy to hear Cookie's dental went well and that her test results are great. :cheer: |
Such good news... you go Cookie! :) |
Thanks! My vet said that she is "one tough Cookie" :D |

I could share Cookie stories all day long. Yes, oddballs are the best! :) |
One tough Cookie, indeed! :D Wahoo!!! Rory sends three extra cheers too! :cheer::cheer::cheer: Her next blood work is the first week of July. |
Way to go, Cookie! Love those good test results! |
My vet had faxed Cookie's labs to the specialist. He called today and was very pleased with Cookies results. He is cutting her prednisone down to every 3 days instead of every other day. She is to be retested in four months. As long as she remains as she is, he is going to take her off of the pred!!!! I am so excited. I really had not expected to hear from him since she is fine. He had originally told me she would be on it forever. I swear it is the diet that Dr. Lenox put her on! |
I hope you are right about the diet doing this!!! And a life with less or without prednisone for even a while has got to be a good thing. I'm pulling for sweet Cookie and hoping for the best for her. And praying! |

Glad to hear that there is some good news for Cookie. I love her little stories |
Congrats to Cookie! I am so glad to hear that Cookie is doing remarkably well on the diet. My Pebbles was diagnosed this past January with PLE. Could you tell me how to get ahold of Dr. Lenox , the nutritionist? Thanks Pebbles Mommy |

Lenox Veterinary Nutrition Consulting | Clinical solutions for feeding and nutrition in small animals She is also on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Lenox...47139508718776 And, if you happen to be in this area and have used Gulf Coast Veterinary Specialists, she is there on I believe Thursdays: Home How is Pebbles doing?? |
Thank you so much for the reply! I live in the Houston area so that is fabulous that I could take Pebbles for a visit to her office. Pebbles is holding right now, the albumin is slowly creeping up(2.1) after 7 months. She is on a homemade diet , I consulted with an organization called Balance It out of California. I make the food and use their supplements. My vet suggested them. The reason I need to shake this up a bit, is her skin is flaking badly and hair falling out, probably due either to disease or combination of meds, prednisone and atopica. I would really like to sit down with a nutritionist and see what I am missing. Something is wrong for her to have skin issues. Thanks so much for the info. Will try the facebook route! |
