lethargic, cold weather??? i have a beautiful healthy? 10 yr old Yorkie and we live in Orlando fl. As soon as it starts to get cold here, she gets lethargic. like...she doesn't Move! she is 7lbs and not thin. We have a sweater on her and its like she is "out of it". she did this last year when i went to a restaurant outside and i had to take my sweater off and wrap it around her. Her eyes were glazed over and she just wasnt there! |
Welcome to YorkieTalk. It may be the cold weather. I would mention it to your vet. Does your little girl have an annual exam coming up anytime soon? Watch for any other unusual behavior or symptoms. |

That sounds like a more than just being a lil cold. I'd definately have you vet check her out. ZoE sleeps more when it's colder in the house and makes beds in blankets I have on the couch, that she really snuggles down into, but she's never "out of it." |

She is acting normal today. Ive got her sweater on her and fluffy bedding on the couch. she does sleep more now. Do you think it could be arthritis? Maybe her bones hurt because of cold weather? |

I have two pups with hip dysplasia and both of them limp when the temperatures drop. I have them both on meds now during the colder days. It could be arthritis, but I agree with Karen...the glazed over eyes does not seem to fit. I would definitely consult with your vet. |
My Tibbe seems to get very energetic with cold weather and will simply stay out running and playing until I MAKE him come in. He's maybe somewhat lethargic in the hot summer when the temp is over 100 - maybe he doesn't play quit so hard outside, but when it is cool or cold, he's a ball of energy. You might get her thyroid function checked among other things. |
Great advice from all of you. she has an appt tomorrow. I have kept her warm all day and she seems fine. She has slept most of the day. I let her outside to pee and she seems to love the cold air. Kicking her back feet up etc. It is SO weird to me!!!!! |
Let us know how things go tomorrow! Will be thinking about you... |
