Junior has a limp! Junior is now 7 months old and seems to be walking with a limp but doesnt seem to be in any pain. When on grass or carpet he walks fine but on pavement or hard flooring he doesnt seem to like walking on his front paws, it doesnt cause him any discomfort but im a bit worried? |
Have his nails been cut recently? If they are too long, he could be slipping and/or they could be pushing into his toes and causing him pain. |
No they havent been but there not long, there a normal length. Im going to take him a visit to the vets to be on the safe side :) |
Might want to have the vet check for LP (luxating patella). Very common in small breeds. There are 4 different grades - some require surgery, some do not. Also, always like to throw out all possibilities, my Jackson began limping one day randomly and we found out he tested positive for Lymes disease. Crazy, right? 30 days of antibiotics and 7 days of pain meds, he was walking normal within the first 5 hours of medicine. |
You are saying his front legs are bothering him? I would definitely consult with a vet. It won't be LP because they only have knees in their hind legs. Hope you get to the bottom of it and it is nothing much. Let us know what happens! |
How-ever elbow dysplasia is not unknown in this breed. Should be ddx by Xray. In any case a vet visit is in order. If you have the time video tape both |good walking| and when he limps prior vet visit. Videos are a great tool for the pet owner to have, when visiting a vet. |
