My puppy is shaking.. I apologize for putting this in the emergency section because it isn't really an emergency. I'm just really nervous. My puppy, Socs, keeps shaking. He's been doing this for the last few days. At first I thought he was cold, I covered him up and he still shook. Thought he was hungry so we hand fed him. He's been drinking his water. I just don't know what could be wrong. It's really sporadic, but he sits on the top of my recliner and I can feel him shaking (the vibrations) through the chair. Any help would be appreciated! (oh, and he hasn't had any shots, been in any different situations). I'm just really really anxious. |
How old is he? and how long have you had him? |
He'll be 2 on January 8th and we've had him since he was 8 weeks old. |
Sometimes shaking in a dog is a sign of pain/discomfort. Has he fallen lately or jumped up or down and possibly landed wrong? You might consider taking him to the vet. Bloodwork or an xray can tell alot. |
Shaking/shivering can come from the dog being painful, even intermittantly, and would be wise to have a vet look at him. Some pups can sense impending storms and will become nervous. Dogs will get chilled after a grooming if a lot of hair is cut off. I could go on and on, but seeing a vet would be the safest thing to do. Maybe catch him on a video for the vet to see may help. Have his anal glands checked too. |
I agree that the shaking is often a sign of pain or discomfort. I would deff have him checked out by your vet though. It could be something as simple as needing his anals expressed. |
