Need Some Reassurance Our little girl is not herself today. When we opened her crate this morning she did not come out on her own. Very unusual. We thought maybe she was just tired and had no real worry. We did some errands for a couple of hours and when we got home, she did not greet us at the door, she did not come when we called her. We found her sitting under a table, she did not come when we entered the room. She just sat with her ears drooping. We picked her up and took her outside to potty. She ALWAYS potties on command, she did not even move. She just stood there in a submissive position. She was shivering on and off. Didn't eat any breakfast. Well, we took her immediately to the vet. Slight temp, but all other vitals were good. Did blood work. Just called and it was all EXCELLENT, Exquisite, the vet said. She was not dehydrated. No vomiting or diahrrea. She is still lethargic and won't come out of her travel bag. She has slept almost all day. The vet said to keep an eye on her as there wasn't anything obvious wrong. She does not go outside without us, does not eat from the trash, etc. I'm worried. I'm afraid to go to sleep as she might bet worse. Has anyone ever had their furbaby act "like they don't feel good" and not have anything obvious wrong. I'm so worried, seeing the vet didn't ease my mind for tonight, just the immediate time. I'd appreciate your input. Thanks:aimeeyork |
Something is definitely going on and it doesn't sound like a behavioral issue, such as being scared. Anything different in your routine? Is she still refusing food? Is she walking normally? Any cries or pawing at anything? Has she pooped today? Shaking and hiding, or removing themselves from usual activity are often signs of pain and illness. What did the vet say about the slight fever? Sending positive thoughts that you can figure this out and that your girl will be back to normal quickly. |

How is she now? If she had a slight fever, then I would think she had an infection somewhere. If she continues through the night and still hasn't eaten by morning, I would be returning to the vet or looking for a second opinion. |
I would find another vet, this is not normal for one to act this way, offer her some chicken, sometimes they will eat this when nothing else works. |
If you have Nutri-cal give her some, her sugar could be low if you don't have Nutri-cal give her some Karo syrup |
I am so sorry that your baby is not feeling well. If she is still not well in the morning, you might want to take her back to the vet and ask for an antibiotic and/or an xray. Bloodwork shows how the chemistry is but an xray will show if there is something lodged or swollen. I hope you both get some rest. |
I am so sorry that your baby is ill. Is it possible that she was bitten by a spider or a scorpion? Sending hugs..... |
Did they check her for a UTI ? |
Just checking back. How's your baby doing? |
