Toby is at er Toby got a tummy bug on Thursday, so after it settled a bit I made him chicken and rice and he ate it no problem and was seeming ok; he was sick again yesterday morn, and from last night wasn't eating or drinking... While I was getting ready to call the vet, he pooped himself and it had a horrible dour and reddness to it- we took him to the vets, and his temp was Very low, and the infection has spread to his chest... I should have called sooner, but he had been getting better- the vet says it's now up to Toby whether he pulls through or not. I'm not really a religious person, but please, pray to whatever god you have that he pulls through; he has only recently started to play with the other kids and brighten up, and now this. I need a miracle, so I ask for your prayers and positive vibes that he makes it. |
How is the vet treating Toby? Sending positive thoughts your way. |
:getwell: Get well soon Toby! :getwell: I am so very sorry to hear that Toby is sick. I will definately keep him in my thoughts and prayers. Please keep us updated - we really worry about our little YTers. Did the vet give you any idea about what type of infection you were battling? |
It started as gastro interitus (sp?) and spread from there. He had his soft palate tightened a few weeks ago, so his immune system may have been a little low. He was too weak to stand by the time I got him up there today. He is on iv fluids, anti sickness and 2 antibiotics and is on a heat pad under heat lamps. This vet has treated my animals my whole life, and I know he will try his damnedest for him, I'm just so angry I could spot it sooner. Thankyou so much for your support. |
Prayers So sorry to hear he is ill. Of course you and he will be in my thoughts and prayers. Please don't beat yourself up over his sickness. He is at the vets now and he is in good hands. You know you would have had him there sooner if you would have known. Hang in there. |
I'm sorry to hear Toby is not doing well, sending prayers for the little guy.:hands: Hugs))) to you both. |
Poor little Toby. We will be thinking and praying for him. |
Prayers going out for Toby. I'm sorry he is going thru this. |
Sending get well prayers to Toby. |
Sending up healing prayers for little Toby. |
I hope lil Toby will get well. Sending special prayers just for Toby. |
Sorry to hear:( I hope that Toby makes a speedy recovery:love: You took him in as soon as you knew he was really sick, so please don't beat yourself up about this. If we ran to the vet every time one of our babies threw up a little, it would get to be ridiculous. Hugs!! |
Called the vet Just off the phone with the vets- there isn't any real change, he hasn't willingly moved yet (he described it as a conscious coma) like he was from i 1st saw him today (he slepps with my gran, and i didnt wake up unril neaely lunchtime) but there is no deterioration, which I'm, rightly or wrongly, going to take as good news... He is a blunt man, (kind of why I love the practice sp much) if he didn't think tob stood a chance, he would have said. Again, thanks for your continued prayers and thoughts. |
He passed away a few minutes ago. He wasn't in pain because of the meds he was on, but the infection was just too much for him; I knew he wasnt going to live Very long, with all the other problems with his back, eyes and legs, but for a bug to be the cause? I don't think it's sank in properly yet. He was the first yorkie I ever knew. And he will be loved and remembered as long as I live. Thanks again everyone. R.I.p. Toblerone. |
Sorry to hear that Toby is so sick....I would take that as a good sign too. Maybe the conscious comma is his bodies way of trying to heal itself. I pray that he will recover from his virus. It's so hard when they are sick. Don't beat yourself up over not getting there sooner....there was really no way you could know that it would get this bad. Prayer and hugs for both of you. |
