I hope we get an update on this little baby. I didn't know Ham is a no-no. That is what the vet said started ceeby being so sick. no matter what our vet says, my hubby is hard headed and continues to feed our poodle and pug from the table at times. I was eating a slice of deli ham Tuesday night with my hubby and the dogs. ceeby was at the baby gate whining and I gave him about one-fourth of a slice. not much at all. But it was hard not to. he hardly ever gets any table "treats' i am pretty firm on that. this is my dog and hubby better not be caught doing it anymore after this scare. he went downhill fast after Tuesday night and the doc said intestional bug plus he has fleas( which he is being treated for with Advantage) and it might be tapeworm. I was so scared because I know we almost lost him. it was a real struggle and around the clock over the Thanksgiving Holiday. He only got better yesterday morning. sorry to be so long. I know everyone has already been updated on Ceeby but I had to post to this thread when I saw all the "Ham" posts. |
I'm so glad little Ceeby is doing better :) I hope she post again too...we ALL care and none of us are perfect owners. What might be ok for one yorkie, may not be for another. We have to be EXTRA careful what we give Bentley. |
Heey everyone :) thanks so much for everything! Teaka is doing better. She seems happy, had a good rest, and is finally drinking by herself! I will keep on writing on how shes doing for the next couple of days =) |

SnowWa...wow - you are condeming us for offering advise to her ? No one said don't go to the vet - at the very least, most people said DO call the vet - this is a young person we're talking to... and saying some people shouldn't have pets is pretty drastic for this thread - I actually was a little offended, and I'm not the original poster - I'm not trying to start anything but we all are trying to help by sharing things we would try ourselves... and in no way does it substitute for Vet care - but we also don't race to the vet for every little poop that doesn't look right - At least I don't anymore.... :) I did when I first got Chanel and believe me - almost every visit...she was just fine. teaka1 - I'm really glad your puppy is feeling better |
That is great to hear!!! Thanks for letting us know :) |
FULL RECOVERY! TEAKA IS EATING AND WANTS TO PLAY ! thanks everyone. yesterday was the scariest day of my life and thanks to everyone who made it so much better! thank youu catherine |

I am very glad that teaka is feeling better . |
Great news about Teaka! :D |
Teaka Great news...there has not been any advise given in this thread that could cause a minute of distress to this sick Yorkie. PLEASE never give raw hides again..they can cause bowel upsets in many dogs..especially as they get into the 5 plus years. HAM is not good either.. If it happend again, let her guts rest for 24 hrs since she is not tiny. Give her ice cubes and if she isn't licking them..spoon honey water in her mouth. I lived in England, back in the days when a vet was a luxury, so you learn to care for your animals as best as you can....and these people can not afford a vet...it is a fact of life some people can not afford them. Should they own a dog, certainly, it is a free country and if people can have babies and not be able to afford them, so can dog lovers. I would hate for someone to tell me I could not have a dog if I was short on vet funds. Beleive it or not, dogs can do well without alot of vet care..much can be gotten free or reduced fees at Humane Societies. If this happens again, call a few Yorkie show breeders and ask them for advise..some have even taken up collections for Yorkie owners in need...never hurts to ask. Do you midn me asking what state you live in..? Best wishes P |
I'm so glad to hear she's better! I will check out her picture! You will learn so much from everyone here. |
Im so glad Teaka is feeling better. Thats great news. |

VERY well said :) |
I apologize for overreacting..... I lost three of my pets this last year. Two of them had very serious health problems, one that was noticed when I took my dog to the vet for another reason. So - it scares me to "stay at home" with what seems to be a very sick dog. And - no way do I take my dog to the vet for every bump and bruise. They go if they are sick or in pain --- or, of course, have an obvious injury. Actually -- I don't think my dogs or cats ever got sick unless it was something very serious. And that certainly wasn't very often --- one dog never, and the other two only once or twice in 12 to 14 years. Teka1 --- There is no one happier than I am that your little dog is better. And - thank you for keeping us all up to date. Carol Jean |
