Bailey has blood in his stool My mom just called me and said Bailey Blue has blood in his stool. It's a little mucusy and it's not a lot but there's blood there. He has chronic pancreatitis but he has never had blood before. She is going to take him to the vet as soon as the well guy leaves (they have no water). I'm freaking out right now!!! She says he's acting normal and his gums are pink but that doesn't make me feel better. I told her to save the piddle pad and poop to bring with to the vet. Please pray for him! |
Poor little Bailey Blue. My Cricket had chronic pancreatitis and during some bouts of pancreatitis she would have mucousy diarrhea w blood. Not w every bout but w some. Hopefully the well guy will leave soon and your mom can get him to the vet. |
Does he have IBD too? Any changed in food, snacks, or stress level recently? It is important to get him in asap, but a little bit of blood in the stool doesn't mean he is necessarily in serious danger. The vet should be able to get it under control. |
He's on his way to the vet right now. No change in food, but we have been remodeling the house, so he could be stressed at that? Yes he has IBD too. I'm so scared for him and wish I could be there! My mom is going to call me when the vet gets in the room so I can talk to him. He has a sensitive tummy, so most antibiotics don't work well for him. |
Sounds kinda like Ellie. She does fine with Metro though. In one of her bad IBD times, she had some blood in her stool and she got through it just fine. :) They can get it when their intestines are angry. Found the right food for her pancreas and intestines and she has been doing ok. Stress can definitely set some intestinal issues off. Whether it is that or he ate/licked something that bothered him, or it came out of nowhere you'll probably never know. |
I just got off the phone with the vet and vet thinks that it's also a case of IBD. They are doing a fecal exam to be on the safe side, but it seems he's just upset that his house was in shambles. I'll keep you all posted once she leaves the vet. |
Saying get well prayers for Bailey! |

Thank you so much! We have him on rice and pumpkin and metronidazole which he keeps spitting out. I'm going to have to get a banana to fool him. He is so worn out from today at the vet and then people in his house all day and now trick or treaters. Now we have a plumbing problem so I can't even give him a bath to wash off the pee until that's fixed. He wets all over whenever he is at the vet. |
I'm sorry to hear that Bailey is sick. I hope things can calm down soon and he can relax, destress, and get well soon. Sending prayers for Bailey. |
Thanks everyone, we appreciate the prayers. |
Just saw this, so sorry Bailey is having IBD. Payers for you. |
:):):) Chan, I didnt know you posted this on here yesterday! glad he is doing better though! we love our BB!!!!!! |
hope Bailey Blue's doing better today! |
Thanks everyone! BB is on the mend today. We reintroduced food into his diet and his poops are back to normal. Thank you for all your prayers. I was a wreck all day! |
I'm so glad he is better.:) |
I'm happy to hear that he is better. Pippin has IBD and it is very scary when they are vomiting or passing blood. I'm lucky that he doesn't mind taking pills. I can put it in his wet food or put a little cheese around it. I hope today is a better day. |
Bailey also has chronic Pancreatitis, so I can't put it in cheese or PB. I can only put it in fruit. The little brat found it this morning and spit it on the floor. LOL Quote:

how did you know he had this? :icon5: Quote:
My dogs have had boughts of vomiting and/or diarrhea before, and they seem to have very sensitive stomachs when it comes to treats and food. I never really thought much of it because it never lasted long. Since I lost Rusty on 9/19/11 to vomiting and bloody diarrhea, I'm wondering if he had something I missed. The vet says she doesn't know what caused it, and I just couldn't let her cut into him to possibly get an answer. Any info would be apppreciated! Thanks! |
I feed BB Natural Balance Fish and sweet Potato canned food 6 times a day. I give him 3/4 of a can, but I split it up in 6 small meals a day because it seems like he digests the food better. Plus kibble expands in their stomach and is hard for her to digest. I also give him Organic Canned Pumpkin, a Power Probiotic, Lipozyme and Bioliv twice a day. Without all of that he would be a mess vomiting and having the runs. The dr. found out by doing tests (not sure which ones) that he has chronic Pancreatitis and IBD. He gets no people food what so ever, he only gets Ask Ariel Your Pet Nutritionist Wildside salmon treats or fruit. Let me know if you have any other questions, I will help as much as possible. |
