Mandevilla plant poisoned Mylee! Mylee experienced a horrible episode last week. I found her totally limp and barely responsive. We rushed her to the vet. Blood work could not be fully tested because her blood would not coagulate. Had to go to an emergency vet. Liver enzymes were high. She was 100% back to normal by that night. I thought she may have had a seizure. Now, I believe I know what happened to Mylee. We went back for a follow up visit today. All blood work came back normal! The vet thinks she may have gotten into something. WHen I got home, I brought her outside to potty. I carry her to an outside pen and place her into it. I noticed that my Mandevilla plant was growing into her pen. I ran and looked up to see if it is poisonous and to my horror, it was. Every part of the plant is poisonous. I feel so bad! I have never seen her bite at it, but I realize some of the leaves had fallen into the pen. Please spread the word! I never want anyone to go through this again. |
Thank God she is ok. |
Oh, I am so glad she is going to be okay. Its scary what these little ones can get into. Glad also you figured out what it was. I'm scared to have any plants at all in the backyard and I have done away with all live house plants. Its just not worth the chance you have to take. |
Thank you for sharing this information. I am so glad your baby is ok. It is frighting how quickly something can happen to them. |
Oh lord that is so scary and I am so glad she is okay. Good info to know. |
I'm glad she is ok. Thanks for the info. |
So happy to here she is ok and you found out what caused this problem. I am always worried about my 4 finding something in the house, but they are confined to the kitchen/sunroom with a gate but occassionally get loose in the house. Thanks for the info. |
