high liver enzymes Mylee had to go to the emergency vet hospital yesterday. I walked away from her for about 5-10 min and came back and found her limp, her tongue was white and she was not able to walk. After hours at the hospital, the bloodwrk revealed high liver enzymes. I don't understand how she went from running around to limp. Wondering if she had a seizure. She just turned 1 yr. I heard this was common. |
she was 100% back to normal that night! It's like nothing ever happened! |
What did the vet have to say about her condition? |
after 3 hours and $600 dollars, they had no answer. I have to go back and have blood work done again to check liver enzymes. I am afraid it was a seizure, but if I don't see it they won't put her on medicine. I am afraid to go to work in case it happens again. Is it common to throw up after a seizure? |
My little Dudley had the same thing about 3 mo. ago. My vet put him on k/d and antibotics and something else, can't remember the name. She said even just something small can trigger it and when we went back his count was normal. Could they have given your baby something that might have caused the seizure? Has your own vet said what they thought caused it? Dudley never showed any symptoms of anything. We had took him in for his yearly check-up and his blood work showed it. He is 2. Mandy, my little schnauzer had cancer and the night we had to have her put down she had a seizure, but no vomiting. She lost control of her bowels and didn't realize where she was and didn't know us, but no vomiting. Good luck with your baby and if they don't do something for him, go to a vet that will. |
I would inquire about Bile Acid Testing if they are concerned about possible liver issues. This was not an expensive test - and yielded a great deal of information. Keep us posted! |
I found out the cause! I believe I know what happened to Mylee. We went back for a follow up visit today. All blood work came back normal! The vet thinks she may have gotten into something. WHen I got home, I brought her outside to potty. I carry her to an outside pen and place her into it. I noticed that my Mandevilla plant was growing into her pen. I ran and looked up to see if it is poisonous and to my horror, it was. Every part of the plant is poisonous. I feel so bad! I have never seen her bite at it, but I realize some of the leaves had fallen into the pen. Please spread the word! I never want anyone to go through this again. |
