Lovetodream88 | 10-09-2011 02:42 PM | Callies episodes help please I know I have posted this before but I really need some more help and support. Backround Callie is 4 years old, 16 pounds and has a hypoglycemic episode almost every sunday. We have had over $600 worth of blood tests and every thing was fine. It has been suggested to bring her in when she is having one of the episodes but they normally are on sunday and it takes 30 to 40 minutes to get to my vet and I worry she could get very bad in the 30 to 40 minutes it takes to get there. I am very confident it is a hypoglycemic episode. She goes limp, gums are whitish, its hard to get her to eat anything with sugar in it, and she is very hard to get to respond. There has been times when she appears to be asleep and is extremely hard to wake up like today when she had the episode she was sleeping on my grandmas lap and my grandma said she seemed off and tried to wake her up and was shaking her (not like hurting her) and it was very hard to wake her up. At first I thought maybe its the food because although I keep dry wellness core down all the time my grandma was afraid she doesnt eat enough and for years has bought those rolls of dog food that petco and petsmart sells and I recently started really looking into foods she eats and looked up those rolls and they are terrible they have sugar and molasses in them so I stoped the roll food. And now with the wellness core she is having some of the new food petsmart is carrying that stays in the cooler but is still having the episodes so I dont think it was the sugar in the other food. She is never left alone like if I have an appointment my grandma takes me and Callie stays with my grandpa but I am becoming terrified to even leave her with him in case she has an episode. I already have terrible anxiety so obviously I'm freaking out that it could be really bad. I'm not sure what to do now. Is there a specialist that I can take her to? Does any one have any suggestions? I know there are many smart people on here and any help would be greatly appreciated. |
