Just diagnosed with carcinoma...what to do?? Reyna was just diagnosed with carcinoma and we don't know what to do. She is 6 1/2 years old. In May she got an upper respiratory infection which we have been fighting ever since (runny nose/noisy breathing). 3 weeks ago we noticed her upper gum by her canine tooth was very swollen. We took her to the vet and they extracted the tooth and expected her swelling to go down. 2 weeks later the swelling still wasn't down so they took a biopsy of her gum. The results just came back today saying carcinoma. We are heartbroken and need advise on what our next steps should be. Please help if you can. Thank you. Love, Reyna's sad mommy  |
i'm so sorry to hear this. :( Is it in a spot where surgery can be done? I used to work for a surgeon and they did surgeries where part of the jaw was removed if cancer was found. the dogs did very well afterwards. |
We aren't sure yet. They said an XRay would be needed of her chest to make sure it hasn't spread. |
If her chest x-rays are clear your best bet would be to get a referral to a specialty hospital that has an oncologist and surgeon. They would be able to help you decide on the best treatment for Reyna. |
I'm so sorry....what a scary diagnosis. I will keep Reyna in my thoughts and prayers. |
Sorry about the bad news. I hope that there can be something done about it. Prayers to you and Reyna. |

Exactly. A good Oncologist is the first step. Ultrasound and X-Ray will help diagnose and rule out spreading. Best of luck to you guys. |
Sorry for this sad news. Prayers for wisdom for you in this and healing for your sweet pup. |
