A/D and I/D are different foods.....but, both are given when a pup has been ill. If he tested negative for pancreatitis then I assume the vet was comfortable giving the A/D if that is what he gave...and it was given because Gizmo has been so sick. I would not worry too much about it...just call your vet tomorrow for clarification about what he should be eating. |

Generally A/D would be given for the weight loss/acute illness issues. It would not be given for pancreatitis. It doesn't sound like he had pancreatitis, but apparently the vet still thought he might, so the food choice is surprising. It's also not a food that is going to help his liver enzymes any, so I would just call your vet in the morning and double check. |
I honestly would lose my mind if it wasn't for you ladies, I am so greatful. Gizmo wants my husband to play with him so bad, and we're trying to take it easy. So, he's feeling better from the anti nausea meds and re-hydration. Hoping to get to the bottom of this nonsense. By the way, he really loved the Science Diet. He especially love that he got in in one of Mommy and Daddy's Fiestaware bowls and not his doggy bowl. :p |
Sorry to hear that little Gizmo is sick. Hope he gets well soon - I know you are anxious to hear those test results. Will be keeping him in my thoughts and sending my best wishes. |
Just a little update. Gizmo is feeling good. He wants his Daddy to play with him so badly. However, he doesn't want to touch his wet food. So, I called the vet and they said it was okay to put him on W/D or Z/D science diet kibble. I'm printing out a coupon now and running with my husband to go pick up some kibble and I'm hoping he just loves it. I can hear his belly growling, so I know he's hungry. I'm just wondering if the canned food makes his stomach churn. |
