How often do you walk you dog? My Pom will go #2 as many as 3 times on a walk. But if we are not able to walk she seems to wait until she absolutly can not wait any longer to go. |
We don't really have a walking schedule, we have a back yard and she goes out with the family every evening. She is rather lazy during the day though. I will increase her exercise starting first thing tomorrow. |

This is excellent advice and I can assure you I will be doing that for our next puppy. Can you recommend a good company? I've reviewed several but I didn't buy them because I don't want to pay premiums for months and then not be able to collect if I file a claim. |

I only care about ilness and accidents. Do your homework and ask Many questions before you purchase!! |
I have ASPCA and I'm planning to fill out a claim as soon as Gizmo gets better. It'll be interesting to see the results. |
My Willow has always had constipation issues and I have tried several foods thinking it might help, premiums all, but nothing notable. I first tried pumpkin but she refused to eat it. I use green beans. Every day or two she is given 5-6 green beans, plain, either from a can or frozen. I heat them and cut them small and this has worked for me. Until you see a GI vet or find something better, you might give it a try, and it's cheap. Regarding your question about mineral oil. Many years ago, I had an Akita who as a pup chewed up some wood and I knew he must have ingested some. My Vet had me give him mineral oil to induce bowel movements and to lubricate his intestine to allow the slivers to pass easily, I just poured it into a spoon and he lapped it up. Good luck and I hope some of this helps. |
You can also try green beans instead of pumpkin. I would take her to see a specialist & have her scoped ( EGD ) as it sounds like she may have a stricture. |
Sorry about your baby's problem, hope you find the cure soon. As for insurance, I agree with the poster - please get insurance asap so no pre-existing conditions. I have Trupanion and although relatively expensive, it is great. My poor baby who is only 2.5 yrs old has had cataract surgery and intestinal complications, and the bills near $4000 have been pain within days, no questions asked. I got 90% payout and zero deductible, as deductibles apply FOR EACH INCIDENT!! |
I want to thank everyone for all your help. Unfortunately my Tia died last night. To be honest, all I've done for nearly 24 hours is cry. I can't even talk without crying. I loved her more than any animal I have ever owned and did my very best to help her, it breaks my heart that she won't greet me at the door when I get home today. She was 5 pounds of pure joy and love. She is in Gods hands now and free of pain. :rbyorkie: |
Gosh I am so sorry for your loss. :( |
Tia So sorry for the sad loss of your lovely baby Tia. No words can help right now, but all those here who have lost a pet know and understand the pain you are going through. She is in peace now and all the discomfort is over for her. You did all you could and more to make her better, and that is all you CAN do. You will always love and remember your baby, and the misery of today will subside in time, but you cannot see that now. The emptiness is terrible and nothing fills the hole in your heart. Peace and love and deepest sorrow. |
Oh, I just read this thread today and then your post of today and am so sorry to hear what has happened to your Tia. I am so sorry for your terrible loss and know how miserable you are feeling right now. The best thing to do is cry and grieve for your little one and just let all the feelings come out - there is something healing in that. Time and your sweet memories of your darling will one day help this pain and you will live the rest of your life with her sweet memory and love. In God\'s Hands is indeed where she plays now, free of pain and illness, happy, loved and waiting for the Day she sees you. |
So sorry for your loss... |
My deepest condolences to you on the loss of your sweet Tia. You were a kind and loving mommy and tried your best to help her. Sending prayers for the new Yorkie Angel Tia. |
Tia is at rest now and she will remain in my heart forever. I have purchased a new puppy "Bailey" he is an 10 week old tea cup and is adorable. He will never replace my Tia but he is therapy for my healing. :animal-pa |
