Moses has been sick all weekend! I picked Moses up from daycare Friday and we took a trip to Petco. A rep from Natural Balance was there and was sampling the Natural Balance treat roll. Moses ate a couple of small pieces and really liked it. We decided to buy one and the lady said "here, take this one home too." So we headed home and I got Moses dinner. I decided to crumble a little bit of the roll on his food. He gobbled it up! Saturday morning, he had pooped in his kennel...he never does that. So we took a bath and he shivered for two hours! He was so lethargic. The vet didn't think he needed to be seen, and Mo was acting better...but he wouldn't touch his food and had runny poops 3 times that day...he still isn't feeling well, but he ate some chicken breast twice today and drank some water. He feels warm to the touch, but his nose is wet and cold, and inside his ears are cool. I am taking him into the vet in the morning! Could a reaction to those treats cause this? Poor Baby! |
It could be a reaction to the treats if he has a very sensitive tummy. I have given my three that treat and none of them have gotten sick from it. Is it possible Moses ate something at day care? I send get well wishes to your little sweetie! Let us know how he's doing! |
Hugs to Moses that he will feel better. |
Poor Moses. I hope he is feeling better this morning. We recently bought some NB lamb roll and a bag of their food. Max ate both when he was a puppy and never had a problem. I gave him a little of each and he vomited everything. :( He was finishing up antibiotics for a skin issue, so I don't know if the medicine was a factor. He had been fine with the med up to that point. Teddy was fine with the lamb roll and the NB kibble, but I didn't want to take any chances. I trash canned it all and stuck to their regular diet. |
We are at the vet right now. He had some blood in his poops this morning. Will keep you updated! |
Sorry to hear about the blood. :( I'm glad you took him in to the vet and I am sending positive thoughts for Moses. Keep us updated when you can. |
:animal36Well, The verdict is he has some sort of bacterial infection in his intestines. The vet didn't know what it was due to, but we have medicine for him. They pumped him with fluids because he was dehydrated, and said he needs to rest today. He also had a slight fever: 102 degrees. Dogs body temp is usually 100. I once again asked about dog food because Moses is a pain in the butt eater. She said her dogs were on Royal Canin and do well on it. She also suggested that I mix some wet food with the dry kibble to see if that helps him stay on track with his appetite and nutrition. He was perkier after we left and I am feeling better about him. She didn't seem to think it was a reaction to the NB treat roll since there was no vomiting. But I took the one I bought back and don't want to take my chances with it! Thanks for your happy thoughts! |

I'm glad that Moses is doing better after seeing the vet. I hope he has a very quick and complete recovery! Poor little guy! I also hope you both get some good rest tonight! |
Sending well wishes for Moses today and hoping the med and food has him on the mend. |
Glad Moses is doing better. I tried the NB roll once and mine got pretty sick from it. |
