My little chihuahua has an enlarged heart and has the same issues. He is on meds and we TRY to keep him quiet but that isn't always easy. The good news is he is 11 years old now and doing quite well! I am sure it will be the same for your Winky.................keeping positive thoughts!!!! Please keep us updated!

I am so sorry to read that Winky is not doing well. Poor little guy :( I hope he is comfortable and they are able to stabilize him.

Darn it all, why does this little guy have to be going through this?

FE, I cannot tell you how sorry I am to read your latest update on Winky. He is such a special part of YT reading about his current struggles is just gut wrenching. It seems so very unfair the positions we are placed in regarding our beloved fur children.

I'm so sorry. I can't imagine what you're going through right now faced with that decision.

Winky was stabilized at the vet after he was put on oxygen for two hours. He has an enlarged liver and spleen and he had a lot of fluid in his system. We were able to take him home at 6pm tonight. The vet basically said it would get worse and worse... :(

They gave him another med too, so they added Spironolactone to what he was already taking.

So he's currently taking:
Pimobendan
Furosemide
Spironolactone
Enalapril

His tongue has been a bit cold tonight, as are his ears, which is really abnormal. We figured out that cold tongue and ears was probably from giving him a bath earlier. He has a sweater on and did eat some food. He just seems very tired and a bit lethargic.

From the bottom of our hearts, we appreciate all the good thoughts, messages, posts and prayers for Winky. We feel very blessed that we can give him the best healthcare we can and we are thankful we have such a great community here at YorkieTalk. We hope that each and every sick and injured Yorkie can get the support that Winky has received. If you were here, Winky would lick you all over and give you all his lovin'! Perhaps that's why he has such a big heart, because he just loves and loves and loves. :)
