Sick Little Boy - Advice
 

My baby boy (who is 6!) has been having some issues the last couple of days. He has had the runs and throwing up bile. I tried to get him in every vet in our area (even ours) and they couldn't see him. They told me I could leave him for the vet to look at, later at night around 11. But that's all they could do.

It's slowed down a LOT. But now if he eats, he throws part of it back up. It's totally food. He's drinking lots and the runs are def better today. More solid for sure.

I called my friend who is a vet, he told me to give him half an immodium. We needed to get it stopped from one end or the other. So I did, and I would say his stools are just loose now. Not watery. He also told me most of his clients with Yorkies have the same issues when they give them something to eat different. Even a little treat! After a few days he should be fine. He is drinking and eating. Just not holding all the food down. The only thing different was for 2 days at my mom's he ate a TON of their food. Which ALWAYS makes him have the runs.

My question is - even though he's fine and running around playing and acts ok, should I take off work tomorrow morning and take him? Or try the emergency vet tonight? Or just wait it out??? I teach and have PT Conferences tomorrow, so I won't be able to be gone with him all day. I worry about him so much. I always do! :rolleyes:

If this was my dog, I'd have gone to the ER vet. I'm surprised your vet friend didn't offer to take a look at the dog to check for dehydration after all that vomiting. I would not wait it out and I would take the dog to a vet tonight. Good luck.

I hope you found a vet to see your little one, and things are getting better. With that much vomiting and diarrhea, it would cause concern for me, especially in an animal as small as these little guys are.

I agree with the others....do hope you have gotten your pupster in to see a vet!

We are sitting at the vet as I type. I'm impatiently waiting on them to finish xrays. I hate this :-(

I had to leave him for further testing. He thinks his colon is inflamed BC of getting into something. Poor baby! He has a really sensitive tummy. Hoping my sister will be able to get him at 5. I have parent teacher conferences tonight. Back to work I go. Keep Bentley in your thoughts and prayers. Me too, I cried when I had to leave him.

An xray is a good idea but I would be asking for bloodwork. Especially liver enzyme count.

Poor little thing. I'm glad you found a vet that could get him in. Hopefully, they can get to the bottom of what is going on and get him some help.

Sending prayers for Bentley. I learned the hard way with Buster when I was visiting my parents everyone was sneaking him tidbits of food. One morning he was pretty sick with diarreaha and I found out later everyone had been giving him bacon even though I told them no people food. So I had to lay down the law and explain to them how sick their good intentions made him. I hope everything turns out ok! Best wishes.

I'm at Parent-Teacher conferences having a MAJOR meltdown. Bentley has a twisted bowel. The vet is doing surgery tomorrow. He said where it's at he should be able to untwist it, if not it's a bit bigger of a deal.

I know nothing about Twisted Bowel. I'm WORRIED. I didn't have time for a major explanation my dad went over to talk to him though. I am just sick. Nothing like crying in front of your parents over the ordeal. I am already so emotional anyways being pregnant. I need some good news that this surgery will be ok girls! :(

Hoping Bentley's surgery is a bowel twist they can just untwist. Please try to take care of yourself while you are pregnant and facing this with little Bentley.

Thank you for your kind words. I have cried my head off for the first few weeks anyways, now this. I've been crying at conferences, thank goodness for understanding parents! He's my first baby, and I want everything to be ok so bad!

I am glad that you have an answer to what is wrong and I am so sorry that it is serious. I will keep you and your family in my thoughts.

I will! Thanks! We are def feeling blue without him tonight. Poor baby. I can't wait to have all of this behind us, and him here running down the halls again.

Well. I managed to make myself eat a few crackers. Now I think I'll try to sleep a little so tomorrow will get here faster! Surgeries are not my cup of tea. :(:thumbdown:(:thumbdown
