How to lower a HIGH FEVER?! I took my yorkie to the vet,and she got some meds. He said she had a high white blood cell count and an infection. However I was just wondering she had a super high temp. And he gave her a shot and her meds but I just wondered if there is ANY other way to lower her FEVER? Besides her meds...which i have to giver her tommorrow. I also wondered if there were things I SHOULD or SHOULD NOT do? :animal-pa |
While she had what you call a super high temperature, I have a feeling it was not something that needed anything extra for it or the vet would have told you what to give her. Usually the antibiotic brings the temp down....a temperature is not always a bad thing. It is a normal response to infection. That is unless it is terribly high and again if it was, I am sure he would had done something there. Hopefully she is feeling a bit better this morning. :) |

If it was dangerously high, your pup would have been hospitalized, given fluids, and cooled down. |
The vet said it was high. It was 104. Although he gave me meds for her I was just wondering if there was anything else I could do to help my furbaby...(this is all new to me):animal-pa |
Just follow the vets instructions and be sure she takes all of her medications. :) Is she eating and drinking ok? |

Well...only day two of meds...maybe at the end her runny nose, sniffling, sneezing and other symptoms will be gone! :):aimeeyorklove my furbaby so much! |
When Kayla's temp. hit 106, they put alcohol on the pads of her feet and put her in front of a fan to cool her down. I can't believe they didn't try to do something for her at the vets. |

My vet told me that Yorkies body temp generally runs about 102. So 104 is not extremely high. I swear my babies run about 150, they are always soooooo HOT feeling! LOL I'm glad to hear your pup is feeling better and the meds seem to be working. Keep her resting and make sure shes eating and drinking. :) |
