Help! Duke got all his 1 year shots + rabies and he wont move!l This morning I took duke to get his 1 year shots and they did them all together. They never ask me or offer me to separete them in two days, and honestly I didn't know any better. First he was fine and probably an hour after the shots he became very quiet and letargic. He wouldn't come when I called him, wouldn't eat or drink and he didn't even want to go out! And when I pick him up he screams out of pain! All this started to happen probably around noon. It's almost 11 pm and he is still almost the same! He ate some food from my hand and lick some water from my hand but barely moved. He was shaking bad earlier but not much now but he hasn't peed since later this morning! I called the vets office and they said wait untill tomorrow and he is still not himself bring him back and said I have to pay again to get him checked. I tjink this is their responsability and they shouldn't charge again. At this point I really don't care about that but I'm worried sick about him and scared he might get dehidrated or something worse? Does anybody have any advice or went through something similar? |

I hope that Duke is feeling better this morning. I space out my dogs' shots and my shih tzu wasn't feeling well for at least 24 hours when he got his rabies shot this spring. |

Rabies...a 3 yr one is all that is needed for an adult...bordetella if boarded is a good idea, otherwise most vets I know are following the new vaccine protocal..best wishes |

Hope your baby is doing better this morning, N=y dogs have never had problems with shots, thankfully. |

Update: duke is still barely moving and in pain! It's been almost 24 hrs and no change. I am taking him to the vet this morning and make sure THEY know they were horrible! They should know better! |

I sure hope your baby is feeling better soon. Am so sorry he had this reaction and there are no longterm effects. |

That is just dreadful!! Our vet gave my girl a steroid at the time of her shots since she had been very sore on previous occasion. They should not be recharging you since it is due to their negligence of giving him all shots at once, if that is indeed what they did. Otherwise another vet is in order!! Best wishes for the pup. |

My vet kept mine under observation after I told her my girl was not herself. They did not charge me. I would consider another vet  Hope your baby feels better. :( |

Update. Thanks everybody for the support! I took him to the vet this morning and indeed he had a bad reaction. He ended up needing iv fluids and pain med! My poor baby! The vet waived the visit fee, they just charged me for the iv fluids and med. He said he should be much better within 24 to 48 hrs, but eventhough he is a little freaked out! He is moving better and he went potty. I hope by tomorrow he is back tohis old self! |
