Scratching his scab.....help! Sully scratched a little spot on his neck raw last week....and every time it tries to scab up and heal, it itches him, and so he scratches it right off. I have tried watching him and not letting him scratch....but then he does it when I am gone and when I am asleep, so that doesn't work. I have thought of an ecollar, but that would go around his neck on the very spot I need to protect...maybe even below that spot, thus defeating the purpose. Today I broke down and painted some "liquid bandage" on his boo-boo......I know that stuff stings, bless his heart, and he'll probably just scratch it off too, but I didn't know what else to do. It's scabbed over several times by now and he keeps scratching it off. I also put a turtleneck on him after I painted the liquid bandage (nuskin) and didn't fold the neck down. LOL. I'm trying!!! Any recommendations, anyone? Please help I'm running out of ideas and I hate to see my baby hurting like this! (It's a dime-sized raw spot and when he scratches the scab off, it bleeds. :() |
Clothes are a good idea. Have you tried to put a little neosporin)sp?) ont the area so it's not so dry and itchy? Maybe this could help. Good luck. I hope someone else has a better idea than me. |
Chachi knawed an open wound on his back and the vet gave us this spray to put on it. He still would lick the spot so the vet had to give us an ecollar. Good luck I know how frustrating it is trying to get them to leave it alone so it will heal up. |
I wanted to tell you the ecollar isnt bad either. Its alot smaller than I thought it would be. Its that thin plastic stuff. It doesnt bother Chachi to wear it. |
Anyone else have any ideas? His boo-boo is ON his neck. He can't reach to lick it....but he can't wear the ecollar b/c it goes around his neck on the same spot that is hurt. I think, so far, the liquid bandage has actually helped.....but we shall see. |
maybe try putting on the medicine and wrapping some kind of soft bandage around his neck, like gauze or something to that effect? just a thought, let us know how he is  |
