Bentley's Issue So, I noticed his anus was extremely swollen. I tried to empty his glands as but him being so tiny I didn't want to try too hard especially since I have nails. I took him to the vet yesterday and he took him to the back room and supposedly he's all set. I had read online that if your not able to squeeze the fluids out than it can be an infection and in some scenarios even have to surgically remove the anal glands! My lil guy is only 2 lbs! I noticed last night that the area is still extremely swollen. I've been putting hydrocordisone cream on the area. Any suggestions? I really hope its not as bad as I've read it could be! I was thinking maybe some lactolose? But my vet said it'll give him diarrahea. He's very active still and doesnt seem in any pain unless we touch the area. |
They didn't tell you what they did? You may be looking at an infection/abscess. In that case, my vet would be doing Animax into the area plus maybe Baytril or Metronidazole by mouth. If it is still swollen and you aren't giving meds, then time to ask the vet why they didn't prescribe any or get a second opinion. I would not worry about the possibility of removal being necessary for this one infection. This happens all the time and very, very few pups have to have them removed. |
Thank you so much for responding. I thought for a second no one cared about my issues when I sincerely care about everyone else's here. I just got off the ph w/ our vet and he said he made sure to take all out yesterday and it must be hemorroids. He suggested to do warm compresses, tucks pads, and prep H cream and if he doesn't get better by saturday he wants to see him. He said that if he was in any serious discomfort i would know and not to worry. Thank you again for your time. |
If he is constipated you can give him a small amount of PLAIN canned pumpkin. That is if you think he is straining too much & has hard stools. Just a thought.Hope he is better real soon. |
