Morkie fell & became sleepy? Hey everyone ! This morning my morkie fell from about 2 feet. He let out a loud bark and was stuck on his side until i picked him up. I check out his legs to make sure they werent broken, I made sure his neck was fine, he could walk, the only thing that seemed wrong was that he was instantly sleepy. Right before he fell, he was really jumpy and wanted to play. But after, he just wanted to sleep and do nothing else. So i let him sleep but when he woke up, his eyes were watery and seemed a little bit smaller than usual. Hes back to his jumpy self & seems fine but his eyes just appear to be smaller. Is there anything I should be worried about? Hes only about 2 and a half months old. Has your Yorkie fell and became instantly sleepy? Does your baby yorkie sleep alot? |
First of all, 2 months is a very young and small dog, so a two feet fall is very very far. Second of all, i he was suddnly sleepy, that could indicate a spinal or brain injury. I would take him to the vet asap. It doesn't sound right to me, especially in a dog that's so young. f Most reputable breeders don't let their dogs go after 12 weeks due to social adjustment of the safety of the dog. So, I'd be cautious with his still developing little body and brain. Many times spinal and brian injuries don't show up until later on. And if he couldn't move from his side unless you assisted, yeah that raises red flags for me. |
I agree, I would be at the vet with my baby ASAP. It may be nothing and then again, I wouldn't be comfortable taking that chance. I hope everything is ok. |
GO to the vet! My Tibbs fell from 14 feet and only broke his leg thank god but you never know when it's something serious. |
thanks for the advice ! hes acting completely normal again but just to be sure, we are taking him to the vet tomorrow morning. |
I hope the vet gives him a clean bill of health! |
The sleepiness can be a sign of a concussion. I wouldn't wait to have him seen. |
If this were my pup that would be at the vet already. |
I would go to the vet asap if its a concussion it could become worse before then, and it causes sleepiness. I dont want to scare you, but sometimes it can be life or death situation. |

Just checking in for an update. What did the vet say? How is he doing today??? Hope all is well. |
The vet said he was just scared and in shock. She checked him out and said all his bones are fine and if anything seems off, bring him back immediately. She compared it to a baby falling or a human getting hurt and said all they would want to do after a fall,is lay down and recover so that is why he seemed sleepy. Hope shes right |
