spinal injury my daisy jumped from the sofa a week ago she hurt her spine and has not been able to use her left legs on her own, her bark is muffled. The vet prescribed prednisone and antibiotics to us it seems like paralyisis we are so baffled what to do she just started eating chicken breast today and drinking from her water bowl.anyone ever expierence this problem we really need advice. |
I'm very sorry. :( Have you been referred to a neurologist yet? If the legs are paralyzed, usually the recommendation is surgery to relieve the pressure on the cord within a day or two. If you are dealing with a general vet, the expertise of a neurologist is really needed for best results. My girl likely has IVDD, but she never paralyzed on us. It's the left side or the back legs? |
So sorry to hear what you are going through. My dog Skittles went paralyzed in one day and we were told that emergency spine surgery needed to be done asap to give him a chance to walk again. I was told that even one day could make a difference in his end result. I would have him seen immediately at a hospital or a neurologist. I am happy to say that Skittles is walking but has a long road of recovery ahead. I wish you the best. |
Neurologist is the way too go, ASAP. Unfortunately, there are not a lot of them around. I believe there are about 4 in the entire Northern part of the state of Illinois. |
Sorry to hear this I hope you can take him to another doctor that can help him. You are in my prayers. |
