Collapsing Trachea? Princess has been having trouble breathing on and off for about 2 hours. She is making this sound like she can't catch her breath that I've described to the vet before and he said it was collapsing trachea. It's never happened for this long before so I don't know what to do. I'm afraid to feed her because I don't know if it's going to make it worse. |
If one of my dogs was doing this, I'd be at the vet's office ASAP! |
How is she now? Did you go to the vet? My Paris has collapsing trachea. It sounds like choking and gagging not necessarily shortness of breath. Better go to the vet. www.paristheblindwonderdog.blogspot.com |
Sometimes putting them in front of an air conditioning vent will help snap them out of it. Most important is to check the color of the gums....if there is a bluish tint to them, she needs oxygen! Definitely hold off on feeding her while she is coughing! She could easily choke. |

Thank you, this is helpful information. |
Princess is better now. I'll call her vet tomorrow. Thanks for all the tips. |
Keep her indoors as much as possible. Our climate is not so good for these little CT pups. Is she doing better than she was this morning? |
I am so sorry. |

When a dog swallows does the food go down the trachea or the esphagus? I thought the trachea was for breathing and the esophagus was for food? In reference to the wet vs. dry food. www.paristheblindwonderdog.blogspot.com |

Added to above post: He was on soft food...I had turned my back for a minute and he got into another pup's kibble. Choked immediately on it. :( |
