Sometimes it may be easier to make a list of foods you do not want to feed, then start trying the ones you do want to feed. It's not so much whether a food is good or bad, but more important to find a food your dog can tolerate and does well on. Also, some dogs may eat a particular brand of food for a few months to a few years, and then they develope a problem with that food. So the food issue is an ongoing one, just do the best you can. Allergies and sensitivities to certain proteins and other ingredients can cause problems with digestion too. Dogs can be on a chicken based diet for years and then suddenly become allergic to chicken, and their food has to be changed. |
OP, when you have a chance, take a look at the following link so that you know what Hill's z/d is. Then, if you might be interested, talk with your vet to see what he thinks: z/dŽ Canine ULTRA Allergen-Free - Dry Some information from the link: Food allergy and intolerance are potentially serious problems that can result in sensitive or irritated skin, coat and ear conditions or even gastrointestinal upset. Dogs that have a food allergy or intolerance, also called adverse reactions to food, typically experience an abnormal response to the protein in the food. If your dog suffers from adverse reaction to food, it is even more important to feed the right food. At Hill's, nutritionists and veterinarians have developed clinical nutrition especially formulated to help manage your dog's dietary sensitivity and help reduce the possibility of adverse reactions to food. |

okay thank you, i am hearing very good things so far about this food. i already bought her some diff food on friday and shes doing good so far on it she really likes it too. my westion about the prescription hills is how much does it run usually and where can i find it? i bought bailey a small bag of the yorkie eukanuba, so im thinking if we change again, then maybe i should wait till we fin this bag first? the vet suggested this food. thank you everybody resonding to my thread about bailey...shes pooping normal already! :) shes eating good, i gave her some chicken and rice baby food today for breakfast, and were going to have an extra fun day b\c today is my little love's 1st BIRTHDAY!! :) but no need to worry, she wont be partying too hard, bc we have a sensitive belly to be careful with ;) |
If she continues to do well, I'd chalk it up to another dog reacting to Nutro, put a nice review on the consumer affairs site about how your dog was negatively affected, and stick to one food that works. |

I use the I/D and I have to get it from my vet. For a bag of dry (I think about 7 lb?) and a case of the can food I paid about $50 but there was a $15 rebate from Hills. Honestly, I was paying just as much if not more for the Instinct I was feeding before. |
