I will be bringing lots of cold water and keep a small t-shirt on hand with us on All of our outtings from now on. :) |
I'm glad Riley is doing better!! :) <3 |
Im so glad that your baby is ok. We took Mina to Canton at the beginning of June and I ended up pouring a cool bottle of water all over her. We got back on the bus and went back to the traveltrailer. I will have to remember the cold pack for the stroller pad for our vacation, great idea. I always have water and a travel bowl. I personally require alot of water too. |
Thresa and Riley, don't scare us like that! I seen your title and was so scared for our buddy, Riley. So glad he is better now, poor guy.. It's crazy how hot our summer has been already, and we're barely getting started...... |

I really think it must have been that Black Top... Believe me, he will Never walk on another one, in the heat, if I can help it. :) |
Very scary for you Theresa! I am so happy that Riley is okay. The heat and humidity have been really bad here. It's really hard keeping the little ones happy with outdoor activities while keeping them from overdoing it in the heat. Give your little sweetie pie extra huggins from me and the boys. |

Standing in my backyard with Mina last night and realizing that it was 98degrees at 10pm,I decided that I am done with this years TX summer. My yard looks like a hayfield it is so dry! Yep ready for fall or as close as we get here. Hope everyone stays safe, with their babies,in the summer fun the rest of the season. |
I live in Fl. as you all know. I freeze plastic soda bottles with ice, I never get in the car with less than 2, one for them and a spare. I also use the wet Tee shirt trick for me and the Yorkies when we go for walks. I am so glad that Riley is ok , thanks to your quick action ! |
Glad to here Riley is ok. thanks for the tip about the T-shirt. We have a tennis court that is asphalt. I take the dogs down there to walk since it is completely fenced and they can run around while I walk. I always take them early in the morning since it is so hot but we usually only stay about 15 minutes, I always have water with me. I just read about putting the heel of your hand to feel the temp. on YT about 2 weeks ago. |
Glad that Riley is feeling better. I know you must have been so scared. When Hot Rod was a pup, we used to go for long walks and one time he threw up after we got home. I posted and was told that that was a sign of heat exhaustion. I felt so bad about that. I am really careful about that now and will pick them up if start panting. It's a joke in my neighborhood that the dogs are taking me for a walk. I will also put my bare foot on the pavement to see how hot it is, this usually determines how far of a walk we take; if I can't take it, then it's going to be hot on them. Also remember that since they are so much closer to pavement, the heat reflects onto them so much more quickly. |
Here is Texas the heat is horrible. A friend of mine not realizing how hot the sidewalk could be even in the late evening burnt her little pom's feet. She keep saying something is wrong with her and then when she checked her feet she realized what happened. It has been so hot I don't even let mine outside. They don't even want to go outside. lol!!!! Tired of this terrible heat. ugh! So glad your baby is feeling better. I know that must have been scarey. Kayla with the CT problem she has we have to keep her cool all the time. I try to never let her get hot. |
So scary - so happy to hear Riley is okay! Thanks for sharing an important reminder to all pet owns!:animal-pa |
Omg, poor baby. Yeah Austin did that one time when he was a pup. He was HOT!! Remember their coats are warm enough for them and when the temp and sun blasting heat around us, its not good. Thank god they are in an air conditioned house with my parents. Always leave water and every hours I drop him a few ice cubes. They love that stuff. Him and Chels fight for it..lol Anyhow I'm so glad Riley is okay. We love him here in NY. =) |
I'm glad Riley is okay! The black top is definitely hot, it gets hot here by 10:30AM! I always walk Teddy from 9:30-10:30AM (during the Summer when I don't have school) because if I wait only a half hour the black top gets unbearably hot. I usually hold Teddy and kneel down to touch the floor before I put him down, and I check periodically along the way because some areas get more sunshine than others. I know I look like an idiot when I do it but oh well...you have to be careful! <3 |
