Rocky's Throwing Up and There May Be Blood Hi There - I'm new to this site, but I need help! My tea cup yorkie, Rocky, has thrown up at least 6 times since this morning. At first it looked yellow and mucusy. The last 2 had red dots mixed in with the yellow. It's hard to be sure, but I think the red dots are blood. There was more in the most recent one. I've call our vet and I'm waiting to hear back. Does any one know what this could be or have any recommendations on what I should do while I wait for the vet? She's laying next to me and has been sleeping for the last 20 minutes or so. At different times today, she was barking and seemed to have energy, but then she'd throw up again. Any advice is very much appreciated. Thank you! |
If at anytime her gums turn any color other than the normal pink or if they are sticky-tacky, treat it as an emergency. Usually you can just call the office and tell them you need a fit-in immediately if no appointments are open. If they won't see her now, then you'll need to call around and see if somebody else will. If nobody will see her, then start looking for emergency vets. |
Try to get her to the vet ASAP! Lexi was throwing up yellow with red blood dots and I called in an emergency clinic and she was admitted and diagnosed with Pancreatitis. Whether you think she might have ingested something or there is some other underlying issue she needs to see a vet. The time you take to wait is time that could probably save her life! |
Just get to the vet. |

Hopefully she has been seen my the vet and you have a diagnosis and treatment. I hope she feels better soon. |
Hopefully your vet can see her, let us know. |
Thank you for all these suggestions. I just got back from the emergency vet. Her liver was a bit enlarged, so they've asked me to watch her carefully. They injected her with some fluids which will be absorbed over the next 8 hours to help with the dehydration, and they prescribed a Bland Food diet, which i'll give her in small quantities over the next 3 days. Fingers crossed she starts to feel better soon. Thanks again for all your help!!! |
Glad you took her to the vet and hopefully she'll be feeling better shortly. In the meantime, you need to show off some pictures! |
i can't figure out to add a profile picture... i add a picture to my gallery but it's not showing up with my name. |
Happy to hear she is ok, keep us updated. I know how to post a profile pic but I can't explain it to you. I know there are a lot of people that will help you. |
