As far as what he thinks caused this, the vet thinks its a bug. He didn't tell to me run bloodwork.. I did tell him however.. that we just did blood work about 3 weeks ago and everything came back normal. My reg. vet told me, her kidney levels looked great.. she even said, You have one healthy dog.

While I was there I did ask about Pancreatitis. He didn't think she had it. He said when I am feeling in her stomach most dogs would either tense up or even cry in pain. Taycie did not do this at all. And he said, there usually is alot more vomit. Taycie only threw up once and that was on our way home from the vet. She did try however on our way but nothing came out.
Not all dogs present the same way with pancreatitis. My Barney has had two life threatening acute bouts of pancreatitis...The first event required 4 days of hospitalization on IV meds and it was very touch and go. The second time we were able to do meds and subcutaneous fluids at home. Neither time did he have any diarrhea or vomiting. He also was not painful or hunched at the exam. He simply had no appetite and would not eat. He seemed "off" and I brought him in. Blood work usually shows elevated lipase and amylase but not always. There may be elevations of white blood cells and there could be a fever. I also think Barney's liver enzymes were off during those incidents. Blood work three weeks ago being great would not necessarily indicate that blood work last night would be but it is certainly good to be starting with a good knowledge base of where your dog's organs are functioning when something like this happens.

Your poor baby! I am sorry! I know after last night, I have never seen Taycie so sick! My vet also did sub-q fluids even though she wasn't super dehydrated as well along with the anti nausea shot.

That's so interesting about acupuncture. I will have to look into it!

Interesting. He didn't even mention blood work.. I just told him I had her's done 3 weeks prior so I was confused because everything checked out fine. He kept telling me, dog's get bugs sometimes.

Checking back to see how Taycie is doing this morning. So glad to see it looks like she is feeling somewhat better. Sending prayers for continued improvement for litte sweetie cakes.:)

Just seeing this - glad you took sweet Taycie to the ER. Hope she continues to improve. I will be thinking of her! It is so hard to see our babies sick!

Dogs do get bugs, but that is determined after testing for some other things. It sounds like she had a ton of diarrhea. Unless she has made a miraculous turn around this am, she needs to go back to a different ER vet for testing. Even if the drugs work, they may be just covering up symptoms. I'd want some base line testing done before just drugging. This is esp. important because the issue has continued throughout the night.

There is a test to r/o pancreatitis.
No fecal test talked about?
No basic blood panel just to make sure everything is okay metabolically?
And you may end up doing xrays too.

Fluids help keep them hydrated, but with that much diarrhea, it is still a big problem. also, if she has continued, then she needs to be admitted.

Have you fed her anything different recently?

I'm so sorry you two our going through this, poor babies. I hope Tracy is feeling better today. There is nothing worse than having your baby sick. Sending prayers your way.

I think she is definently on the mend! She acting bright and alert and is enjoying her chicken and rice:) Her appetite is back and she is drinking. She even ran over to the neighbors to bark at them,when I took her out to potty. Normally, I don't like when she does this bit it brought a smile to my face:) No diaherra since 4:30a.m!

So glad to read Taycie is on the mend and barking. Good sign! Bless her heart. Sorry she went through this. And sorry mom had to worry her way through this, too.
