Mange? Allergies? Anyone know? 3 Attachment(s) We are trying to find a yorkie or small dog rescue to take this male puppy. He still has his baby teeth and was found abandoned outside of a grocery store in Miami. Does anyone know what this skin condition is? Does it look like mange or allergies? We have never had a yorkie come into our rescue that looked like this. If anyone knows of a certified rescue group that would be able to take this guy please email us at floridayorkierescue@yahoo.com (Florida Yorkie Rescue is temporarily closed due to illness) If anyone can shed further light on what might be causing this skin condition, please respond. Thanks everyone! |
Regarding Yorkie with Skin Condition Anyone interested in taking this yorkie must be a Rescue Group located in southern Florida. We cannot transport this dog. For more information please email floridayorkierescue@yahoo.com |
OMG, this is horrible! What did the vet say? This poor little kiddo. It's hard to say what this is - but since he is a puppy, mange/mites def needs to be ruled out. This does not look like allergies to me. From what I can see, it really doesn't look bacterial either, but that could be determined by an easy, quick skin scrape. I'm glad you found him, please get him to the vet asap! |

Have you tired to contact United Yorkie Rescue? They have people in Florida. |
That poor baby. I hope someone can take him and get him the treatment he so badly needs. Whoever left him like that should be shot. Please keep us updated on him. |
This yorkie is now in rescue Thanks everyone who responded. This yorkie has been picked up tonight and it safe and sound! |
2 Attachment(s) He needs to be seen by a vet! They can do a skin scraping. Honestly, I don't think this looks like mange..but it is possible that it is. Only a vet could properly tell you. There is no way that anyone can diagnose this on the internet by pictures; but I have had two pups that looked similar to him and ended up to be beautiful yorkies. Neither of them had mange. One had fungal and bacterial skin infections that probably started with flea dermatitis. His before and after pics are here: Index of /cody The other is my foster Sunny D who I have now. He ended up with a diagnosis of Alopecia X (psedo cushings). Here are his before and after pics: Attachment 347614 Attachment 347615 My suggesion is to contact United Yorkie Rescue. They have foster homes in Florida and should be able to deal with this pup if they have room for him. |
Oh that poor baby! :( Has he been to the vet yet? We had a mother and puppies left abandoned by renters and the mother looked similar. She was treated for mange, malnourishment, and a fungus. This baby needs vet care immediatly, I hope someone can take him. |
Ohhhh while I was posting I see there was an update! I am happy to hear that this yorkie is safe and sound! :) |
Oh me too! Such great news. I will be praying this pup recovers and finds his forever home. |
Great news!! Sunny D looks amazing! |
