what should i do? My yorkie just was attack by a big cat... what should I do? He have a small gash on his neck and some redness over his eye..... he seems ok tho.. |
If it was Kaji, I would be at the vet right now. At the very least, I'd call a 24 hour vet for advice. |
It would be best to have a vet look at him and clean and dress any wounds, one must be careful with any products used around the eyes, or permanent injury/damage may result. If it was your cat, I would recommend trimming the cat's nails, just take off the pointy tips. |
I would be concerned about a corneal abrasion after a cat attack. He should be seen by the vet. Sooner than later. |
Cat wounds (bites or scratches) have such a high chance of becoming infected (They didn't title the name of the song "Cat Scratch Fever" by Ted Nugent for nothing). You need to get your little guy to a vet. Alot of times cat wounds (in humans at least) can be treated very easily with anti-biotics taken orally or topically. Without treatment, severe swelling permanent damage, and death can happen. |
I would recommend calling the er vet or just heading over there. |
My friends wiener dog was scratched in the eye by a cat which eventually led to the dog becoming blind. They ultimately had to remove the eye. Not to scare you or anything!! But make sure you check him over thoroughly and take him to see a vet asap just to be sure. |

Time can cost the animal a lot you should have been to the vet before posting on here. Sorry if this sounds blunt but it is a fact. |
A visit to the vet is in order, I have a big cat and I know how much damage he could do to Rizzo if they ever got in a fight. Lucky for me they get along pretty well. |
I would take him to the vet, he could get an infection especially if the cat hasn't had its rabie shots. |

Our vet told me that cat bites were one of the worst to get infected. I am not trying to scare you, but I would get to a vet asap. |
Bites from cats (and even scratches) can be really dangerous. The ER is the best place to go. Is your pup UTD on rabies vaccines? If this was an outdoor cat and the answer is no, you may have even more problems. |
I agree with everyone else. An immediate visit to the vet is/was in order...hopefully that has already been done. |
Many things in life require us to use our common sense...please give some thought to your Yorkies situation and I know you will come up with the right solution for your companion...best wishes, hope all is well. |
I agree with you for posting first and not racing to the vet under these circumstances. I am a panick person and I have not gone to the vet because a lot of these experienced people have solutions that don't cost hundreds of dollars. Only you can be the judge of its seriousness and decide to go today or wait till tomorrow to see how things are. You may get a lot of comments to give you solutions as time goes on. |
