Weird Lump/bump on one of my puppy? 1 Attachment(s) Hi guys.. My 10 weeks old litter got their 1st shot on June 2, and I microchip them on June 7. I notice yesterday when I bath the puppy that my little Marcus got a lump/bump on top of his shoulder/neck area. He's tiny 1.3lb, my smallest one. not fare from microchip just next and bellow it. Size of a dime but not round more long. I am pretty sure the the lump/bump wasn't there before I microchip him. He show no pain at all even when I touch it. He is eating, playing, not scratching it... I call my vet but only got to talk to the girl at the desk, she told me if it worry you bring it.No phone advise. Unfortunately I just broke my big toe a few days ago...I am on percocet right now resting toe on a ice pack . So going to vet sound like real torture to me... Do you guys think that could be an urgent matter? Or can I wait a couple weeks? Could it be from his 1st shot? (though only happen with rabbis) I wonder if I should off refused the lepto shot? Anyone know if microchip can cause a temporary lump? Sorry for extra long post... |
This lump could be from either the shot OR the microchip. I have heard that microchips can migrate so maybe its that. One of my babies has a lump on his back still from his first rabies shot vaccination. He is 2and a half years old. It is about the size of a dime and does not cause him any pain at all. I took him in to the vet to get this checked out to see if it could have been anything cancerous, but they said at his young age it is not likely. They told me to watch it and if it gets any bigger to bring him in. It has been the same size ever since. A lump from a vaccine is also a definite possibility of what your pup is experiencing. It is not dangerous and is just a ball of tissue. |
Thanks... hope that's all it is. Will be going to vet for check up as soon as I can anyway to make sure. |
ZoE had a small dime size lump with every puppy vaccination. She got them even though she had benadryl prior to every shot. It went away within a week. My vet always said to monitor the lump and it should decrease in size, but if it were to increase in size to bring her in immediately. ZoE's lump always got smaller & smaller & was totally gone within a week. |
I am glad to report that the bump is way smaller today. Look like it's going away. Thank you both for your help. :D |
Glad it is smaller now. Rosie had one appear after she had her shots last time. It went away a few days later. It was scary to me! I called the vet and posted on here. I found out that it is common after being vaccinated. Hopefully that is all that it is. |
I wish Leo's went away but like I said Leo still has his and its been 2 years! Doesn't look like his lump is going away anytime soon. But I'm glad to hear that your puppy's is getting smaller. |
The bump is totally gone now, so happy :) |

Thats great! Poor Leo wasn't so lucky to have his go away. But thats okay, I love him lumpy or not. |
Glad the lump went away! I hope my babies lump does as well.... I just found a lump on little Jimmy's leg last night and it's been 7 days since the shot. However, I do think it's from the shot he got because she was having a hard time giving it to him. He was wiggling all over the place and the needle she used was about an inch and a half long...maybe 2! His leg was shorter than the needle. I remember she poked him once and he went all wriggly then she had to poke him again. I'm sure she really aggitated the site. |
