I think my Yorkie is sick Okay, So this all started about last night at 1:30am EST I was taking my dog Lucy for a walk but after awhile she just started laying down so I tried to get her to come inside but she didn't want to get up so I picked her up and set her on her feet she started walking but she couldn't walk a straight line she just kept walking to the side so when we finally got inside she just stood there and her breathing started to get heavy so I called my mom and as I brought her to my mom, Lucy just vomited out of nowhere then she vomited again shortly after so I brought her to the bathroom then she started having diarrhea while I was holding her I think this is when it got worse because then her head just tilted over and she was none responded it was like she was going in and out of consciousness by then I was freaking out, my mom took her and then Lucy was starting the have diarrhea again as my mom held her after that I went and woke up my dad they wrapped her in blankets to keep her warm and we fed her some honey which she didn't like at all after a few minutes we brought her upstairs to my room she still wasn't reacting to us when we called her, my dad went to the story and got her some pedialyte after a while she started to go back to normal, she was walking around and drinking the pedialyte so by now it was about 2:21am she was fine from then on but then I woke up at about 8:30am and now it's happening again I don't know what else to do I'm only fifteen so I can't drive her to a vet and my dad has the only car and he's at work so if anyone has any idea of what's wrong with her that'll be a big help and sorry this was so long, I just thought I should put as much detail as possible. Please help me I dunno what else to do :'( |
Is there anyone else you can call to help you get your girl to a vet? She should be seen by a doctor right away. Can you take a cab? Can you ask your vet's office for help? How old is she and how much does she weigh? This sounds like more than a hypoglycemic episode. Was it hot when you were walking? Are her gums pink and wet, or pale and sticky? |
I pray you can get your little girl to a vet ASAP. These little ones can go down fast. Please keep us updated. |
Bless your heart, is there no one you can call to get your baby to the vet. I agree with Kristin, she needs to go in ASAP. I don't want to scare you, but something sounds really wrong with your little girl. |
Usually when they can't walk straight or tilt their heads like that, there is neurological involvement. I'm very sorry that you are in a spot like this. She does have to see the vet right now though. The reality of the situation is that you could lose her if she doesn't. Can you or your mom call the vet's office to ask what to do until you can get her there? Can your mom take a cab? |
At the very least you need to call the vet- more then likely they will tell you that you need to come in ASAP- Do you have any friends who drive? relatives in the area? a cab company close by? How long a walk is it to the vet? How well do you know the vet, would they send a tech to pick up the puppy? Is there a rescue close by who might send someone to drive the puppy to the vet? |
Agree with the above posters. This is not a normal episode and she needs to be evaluated by a professional right away. |
I am sorry your baby is so sick. She needs to be seen right away. Can your Dad or a friends parent take you to the vet. Have you called your vet to see if there is any thing they can do? I know how scary it must be. I hope you are able to get her in. Please keep us posted. |
I would ask a neighbor, friend or relative to help you get your pup to the vet. I would also call the vet to let them know you are trying to get to them. Maybe one of the staff could help you get the pup in. |
Praying your baby will be ok. Keep us updated |
We fed her some white rice, she's seems fine right now, she's vomited about four or five times since my last post I called the vet and they said they can't do anything from over the phone and that we will have to bring her in I just hope my dad gets here before they close :\ |

Not to put too fine a term on this but this is an Emergency situation. You can lose your girl. Call your DAD at work ask him to come home now.... as your pup is very sick. |
I hate to sound like I'm just repeating myself, but if you could call your dad to come home early, ask a neighbor, a relative, a friend...she needs to be taken in before the vet closes. She has vomited at least once an hour since your last post plus the other symptoms. The repeated vomiting can be very dangerous; it causes dehydration, which can be a severe problem. Can your mother read our posts so she can help you get some help for the pup? |
You're doing a good job, having called the vet. They are right, though, she needs to be seen today. |
Just checking how you and the pup are. I hope you both are ok! |
Hope your baby is ok, it is 4:00 pm here in Georgia and most vets close at 6. Has she ever been sick like this before? |
I'm so sorry for the late update! I think she's feeling better now right now she's sleeping earlier she was all happy and wagging her tail and wanting to play she stopped vomiting and all she wants to do now is eat We're still gonna take her to the vet but I think all and all she back to normal but I'm still gonna keep an eye on her for now |

How old is your girl and how much does she weigh? What did she eat yesterday? |

She's about two or three years old. She weighs about Ten pounds. She ate mostly Rice yesterday and a little bit of canned food I didn't want to push her too much with a bunch of food so I just kept it small I'm still worried that what happened yesterday might happen again :\ |

You are right to be concerned that it will happen again. Definitely make an appointment with your vet to have your darling girl checked out, and tell the vet exactly what happened. |
I also agree that it is good that she is not a tiny puppy. But still needs to be seen by your vet, just to make sure she is ok, and does not need any further treatment. u have gone thruhj the same thing will my Yorkie, but she wa not doing the head titling or off balance, that makes it scarier. I think a good thing to do is to write down a plan when your dog gets sick. Show it to your parents, then tape it to the fridge. You really do need a Emergency plan . I am sure it it really hard for you because your paretns are the ones responsible for your Dogs well being , and health. I am very glad that your yorkie is feeling better. |
