anyone else dealt with cryptorchidism? just wondering what others' experiences' were, I asked the breeders if the father had one testicle too and they said the dad was normal. eventually Lewie did get neutered which is the best. Wondering if this affected his development in anyway though having only half amount of hormones. he's also very skinny not a lot of muscle of weight on him. hoping to have him gain more weight, his puppy teeth also didn't fall out so we had to get tooth extractions also - wondering if it could be the cryptochidism playing an effect. |
My maltese had that - the only effect I saw was that the neuter was a little more costly. Other than that, he was completely normal in every way. |
It doesn't mean they only have one testicle, it means one of them didn't "desend" and was caught higher up somewhere around the penis towards the abdomin. When he got nuetered, was there an insision up around or next to his penis somewhere? I'm sure it's possible for a dog to only have one testicle, but it's much more likely that one was just higher up and needed to be removed differently and seperate from the other. There's no affects to the dog what so ever. It's just the nueter is usually more expensive, as was said. Don't worry, he didn't have half the amount of hormones. |
Genetically the gene for cryptochidism is passed by the mother and as someone posted above...it doesn't mean your pup did not have testicles...simply that they were retained. |
