Yorkie kicked/hit and now wont come near me Hi all, About Macey.... Macey is a toy Yorkie and around 8 years of age. I met her a few years ago when my Girlfriends Dad passed away... she went everywhere with had Dad and only ever trusted him and his Daughter (Who now looks after her) Macey is a very loyal dog and will only allow me or my girlfriend to take her for walks, feed her and will only sleep with us. She is always attached to my girlfriend... follows her everywhere whether it be to go the tiolet at 3 in the morning or have an early night where as most other dogs I know would want to stay asleep... The only people Macey mixes with is just us two... she will not allow anyone else into her world. Other dogs we see in the street are warned off by her bark (she's just not interested which is fine) I'm posting this on behalf of my girlfriend who has a toy Yorkie... today my Girlfriend tells me Macey (The Yorkies name) is shaking with fear and spent all last night yelping in pain and now will not come near her and runs away if she approaches her which is comletely out of the ordinary. My girlfriend took her the vet and the vet feels she may have been kicked however, she did not take a scan?? she was given some tablets which seem to have calmed her but I'm really concerned and it is upsetting my girlfriend that Macey will not go near her at all (Like she's the one to blame) after following her around and sleeping in the same bed for 2 years to not wanting to go near her and not even looking at her it now looks like we have a brand new dog. I've read on here a few people have had similar experiences where there dogs have ran away, shivered ect.... but Macey has never ever done anything like this. I really hope we have not lost this lovable dog to some cruel act. Any help or advice you can offer please? |
I hope someone can give you advice. Who might have abused her? |
Maybe someone/something startled her really badly? |
How or who could have done this ? was she left with someone or did you have a visitor that could have hurt her ? She could have put her back out jumping up & down from the furniture. |
Thanks for you support guys... we don't know who has done it but I would love to find out! She's still yelping in the night and struggles to jump over a small step to go out to the yard.. I hope she has not broken anything... Anything we can do to make her feel more confident? She is spoilt as it is already and has plenty of toys and fresh food cooked for her |
Oh and we are taking her for a scan tomorrow... apparently they do not do scans on a Sunday or we would have took her today |
Well it sounds like an injury or some problem causing pain, more than a fear issue. If the dog is in alot of pain (which sounds like she is) that could make then act out of the ordinary. She needs an xray for sure asap. If it's that bad she could be in a lot of oain and I wouldn't wait till tomorrow. Can you take her to another vet or an emergency clinic? |
If you two are the only two people around here, then a kick is pretty much ruled out. I'd be more concerned that this pup jumped/fell and has seriously injured something. Dogs in pain sometimes don't want to be touched or are sensitive to it. If the pup is still showing signs of this much pain, she needs to go to a specialty hospital and get help today. |
A dog who is in pain will act like this. I'd take her back to the vet to find out why she is in pain. |

I also agree with what has been said. This dog might be in terrible pain. Something is not right. It could be internal, and nobody has hurt her . I hope the scan will pick up on why she is hurting. It is terrible to think what this could be. Please keep this thread updated. |
How is your baby doing ? |
