Question about Princess...??? Princess is about 16 months old, 7ish pounds, and as far as we all know in great health (knock on wood). However, I've been noticing her doing this thing, and wondered if you know what it is/is caused by.... She will make these tiny noises, in a rhythmic pattern, and her body will kind of move "forward". It's not like dry heaving, but maybe a super mild version of it. I don't know. At first I wondered if it was the hiccups because it seemed to be so "regular" but if I say "Princess, what's wrong?" she'll look at me then stop. She still get into things, finds things that even I don't seem to see:rolleyes:, but she is not known to ingest them. I've looked at videos of reversed sneezing & read about collapsed trachea, and it doesn't seem to match this. Just curious to see if anyone knows what I'm talking about...? She'll be going to the vet in the next couple of weeks for her boosters, but I thought I'd try for some other insight in the meantime. Thanks!:) |
It could be reverse sneeze. It is pretty common in yorkies. Mine get it on and off. I hold their nose and mouth closed for a couple of seconds which forces them to breathe out and that usually stops it. |
Ya, probably just reverse sneezing, Alice does it all the time and my Beagle has "fits" of it every once in a while. It's harmless, just annoying lol. It looks and sounds bad, but it's no worse than if you were to sneeze a few times. It's caused by something like them breathing air in through their nose to quickly? I notice mine do it more if they're really excited or sometimes if they're sniffing the ground, then again, sometimes it's just random. |
ok, good to know she's not being more of a spaz than usual.;) thanks, ladies!:) |
Try looking at the Reverse Sneezing vid and see if what she is doing reminds you of this. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/die...d-trachea.html |
awe, those poor dogs! thanks, yorkietalkjilly for finding & posting that. what she does sounds nothing like any of those. i'll try to capture it, but it's so random & once i get up (to get the cam for instance) or say anything then she stops. i've also wondered if maybe she just has gas & is burping?? i don't know. |

Wonder if she is nauseated but not ill enough to really vomit or maybe cannot vomit. My Tibbe gets ill(found out early on that Milk Bones makes him quite sick - that was well B4 I was on YT and knew about really good treats) but does not really vomit. He spits up but no actual food had ever been vomited up so I don't know if he really does not have the capability of vomiting or what but he just does some of that early partial heaving without vomiting. What all is she eating? Any chance she is getting into anything somewhere in the house? I know it is so worrying when our babies are not acting right in some way. God bless. |
She did it before we changed her food to the TOTW & Acana she's on now. 99% of the treats & people food she gets (chicken, steak, vegs, pot. & a lil milk) she has been getting forever now. Everything as far as toxins, like everything, even lotion is out of her reach. The only thing she'll still get into consistently and can usually find is paper & kleenex...and almost every time she will come to me to show me it, then let the chase begin. I'm pretty sure it's just an attention thing or a game to her and she has no interest in eating it. I'll try to see if I can associate the time frame with anything. It always seems to happen late eve, or at night, but that could just be me noticing it because the house is quiet. It's not a big worry for me, more of a curiosity. Her eyes aren't popping out of her head & no vomiting, drooling or even real coughing. She just likes to keep me guessing I think.... |
They do know how to keep us right on edge, don't they? I sure hope it's just a little habit she's gotten into and it will pass. |
