We are home from the ER. Hadley is being treated for a UTI. Because of nervousness or maybe just the UTI he had an accident at the ER and they could not get a urine sample but the doctor still felt sure that was the problem. He was given a shot of antibiotics and we were sent home with antibiotics for the next several days. He is about the same. But he did get a little excited at the birds earlier and he is up walking around the house now. They said he should start feeling better tomorrow. As for the hair loss, the doctor said that sometimes when they feel bad and feel stressed it causes the hair to fall out or he may have been biting the pain. He was such a good patient to not feel well. He is so well mannered....other than the accident. He also came home and relieved himself on a towel in the bathroom. He is house trained, so hopefully this UTI will be over soon and he will not learn bad habits from needing to relieve himself places he normally wouldn't. Thanks so much for all the info and well wishes. Maybe we can all get some sleep tonight now. |
Oh, I'm so relieved that it may be just a UTI. Those things can really get to them. I hope he is doing much, much better tomorrow and did not have to wait until Saturday. He might have gotten kidney involvement by then, if it got too bad. Does the vet want to see him back or just prn if gets no better? |
If he isn't better by tomorrow he will see his regular Vet Saturday morning. Thanks for your well wishes :) |
Oh, I hope he is. Don't they just worry you sick when they are sick? |
I am so glad you took him in. My cali had a UTI a few weeks ago and the first I knew she was peeing blood. The medicine helped pretty quickly. I hope Hadley is back to his usual self soon. |
Gen, I hope your baby is doing better real soon. Please continue to let us know how he's doing. I have oodles of family in the Paoli area as well as Maysville, Pauls Valley, etc... You probably know some of them. |
Thank you so much. I probably do know your family, you know how this area is. You pretty much know everyone. |

Sorry you Cali was sick too. Glad to know the medicine works fast. Hopefully he will back to his energetic self soon :) |
Aww, I hope Hadley's feeling better soon. Keep us posted. |
Update Hadley is feeling much better, although the antibiotic does seem to be upsetting his tummy a little. He was taking it very well until today and he just would not have anything to do with it. So we lost that dose. I may have to figure out a different way to get it down tonight for his second dose. Thanks again to everyone who showed concern for his well being. I know I don't spend a lot of time on this forum, due to the fact that I have three kids and work, but I knew this was the place to ask for advice. Thanks again :) |
I am glad Hadley is feeling better. Buster was on a lot of antibiotics I give him Pet Dopholis by Jarrow to help keep the bateria in his stomach balanced. |
If he continues to lose hair please have your vet check his thyroid, hair loss in dogs is a very sure sign there is a thyroid problem. Yorkies dont shed so it should be looked at if he does not feel better soon :) Yorkshire Terriers: Health issues in Yorkies Breeders should be aware of. |

Are there any other symptoms of thyroid problems? I knew that Yorkies do not shed and I was very worried about it . It isn't a lot, but enough to notice it in his bed from time to time. We did catch him kind of chewing at his side, so I thought maybe it was from that. He never has any ticks or fleas, nor does our Aussie who stays outside. Thank you for your advice :) |

So this is like acidophilus for dogs? And thank you for your well wishes! |

I just noticed the link you provided, funny I had just found the same one on my own after doing a thyroid problems in Yorkies search. Thanks again for the info and I will get him checked again for sure if this continues. |
