Good luck Basil. Can't wait to hear how you do at the vet's and how much you love the return to FREEDOM. Kiss kiss from the Maui Girls |
Today's THE day! :D Can't wait to hear how Basil's appointment goes. |
Just saw this and hoping there is some good news. |
Good Luck Basil!! Hoping for good news!:) |
The splint came off this morning, and he had an X-Ray. The leg healed perfectly. He just has to take it easy for 4 more weeks, so no running or jumping. He can be walked around the house on a leash, and no more splint! He will be great. He has a slight limp but that will go away in a few weeks. Thank you again for all the well wishes. |

Yay - basil's cast coming off!! |
Awesome! And congratulations on keeping Basil from overdoing it for 5 weeks! Four more weeks, and all of it will be a memory! Thanks for keeping us informed. |
Wahoo!! No more splint! Basil will be a happy boy. :) So glad everything healed nicely. |
Now all he wants to do it run. These 4 weeks will be harder than the first 5, but we are doing our part to limit his activity. He does not like it, but will forget about it down the road. Even though the hair on his leg was shaved, the leg looks perfect and youcan not see the plate or even feel it unless you know exactly where to look. The surgeon suggests leaving it in unless it causes problems down the road as far as infection or irritation, but that only happens in a very small percentage. He said it is easy to take it out, but it is a surgical procedure, and stitches and recovery are again involved. Naturally, we will always keep an eye on that leg, but feel with theb est Surgeon in the Midwest he will be just fine for the next 15+ years |
I'm glad he's free to at least walk for awhile. Being careful now will make things better for him down the road. |
Great to hear Basil is mending so nicely. Now keeping him in low gear will be a challenge, so good luck with that :D |
2 days now woth no splint, and Basil is loving it. He is doing great, slight limp, and hard to keep him from running, even on the leash. Bought him a toy yesterday yhat looks like a bullwhip with a small soft toy hanging off the end on a piece of rope....we hold it, he tries to get it and he is on Carlo's big bed so soft and no running. Maxine just sits and watches, and Carlo waits for us to put it down so he can run over and get it. |
Your household sounds like lots of fun!:D |
