Veruca's friend Coco is having kidney problems :-( My yorkie Veruca Salt (~1.5yo) has two yorkie friends in our building who she LOVES to play with.... sister and brother, Sadie (3yo) and Coco (17yo). Anyway, Coco is having major kidney problems and trouble urinating, so I just want everyone to send him a little extra love and prayers. He has had every illness under the sun in his lifetime, and he's a trooper. We hope he gets better soon! :lovewings |
I will keep Coco in my prayers. My Nikki is 17 and starting with kidney problems. |
Chronic Kidney Failure He usually is so excited to see Veruca and he didn't even wag his tail. From what his owner tells me it sounds like kidney failure with metabolic acidosis. he's lethargic and not acting normally. They are giving him fluids at home right now and some other drugs to try and make his blood more alkaline. Does anyone know what's normally done for a yorkie with chronic kidney failure? |
I'll keep Coco in my prayers... Usually fluids and meds are prescribed... the fluids will make him feel better. |

I just wanted to let everyone know that Coco came home from the hospital after 2 days on fluids/meds and is feeling better. We saw him on our walk and he wagged his tail excited to see Veruca (but he has to stay quiet and calm for a few days so they couldn't play). He now will be on a kidney diet and hopefully stay stable for years to come. He is amazing at 17yo. |
I'm glad Coco is doing better and was happy to see Veruca!! |
