To the Rescue!
Our sweet Yorkie came to us alone, abandoned and a real mess. We found out Wednesday that she was also very pregnant! We have never had any experience with puppies, so we were wide eyed when we wnt for her initial check up and the tech said 4 wks, but the Dr. said NOPE! He thought she had simply settled into a taken care of weight...That was 3 weeks ago, and after another trip, we learned that Ivy is having 5 puppies!!! We are more than willing to find homes for and raise until weaning, but this waiting business is tough. I keep wondering if she is hurting, or when it will actually start. All the traditional methods and symptoms checklists have been tallied and we have determined she may NEVER lay down and have the pups. She lost her mucous plug on Friday night...her temp is at 98.4 and still she acts like she always has, with the exception of laying around a little more. I had to work today, after staying on watch all weekend and am sorry but truthful when I say I let my 14 year old stay home from school today so he can call me when she starts showing MORE signs...Anything I should be afraid of? |
