 I WOULD HAVE DIED!!!! I'm so sorry for you and Hepburn. Kuddos to the store owner for stepping up and doing the right thing. It's hard to say how "how to trust" again, I don't know if I could and risk it happening again. Good luck with that Thinking of you and Hep tomorrow and praying that all goes well |
Just to be on the safe side, I would have your Animal Control people start the process to have the dog checked rabies and other diseases that might be transmitted through the bite. You never know what a dog has come into contact with and when your dog is bitten, you must know ASAP. |
Wow, I'm so sorry this happen to Hepburn and you. I could not even imagine how awful that was. Sending prayers your way and positive thoughts!! Poor baby! |

Oh my god that is awful. People wonder why I pick Andy up around big dogs and this is a prime example why. I wish your babe a speedy recovery and I am glad the store owner is working with you on this without a battle. Give your furbaby a kiss from us yter's . |
In our case, the big dog came rushing from out of eye range and Jilly heard or scented him, turned and ran back on her leash to "protect" me and he was on her, all before I knew what was happening. I always walk with my head on a swivel but he obviously came from behind his house - off leash and silent. Thankfully I had a walking stick with me or he could have killed her. He still stalked us down the block as I was trying to get her home to safety and I had to stop and threaten him with the walking stick to back him off. His owner told Animal Control he had jumped the fence. I never even saw the dog as we walked by his house and never heard or saw his silent approach. You can't even walk your dog in your neighborhood safely sometimes! |
I will keep Hepburn in my prayers for a safe and speedy recovery. That had to be so scary for both of you. |
How scary! I cannot imagine how frightened you must have been :( Poor Hepburn. I am really glad to hear that the storeowner stepped up and assumed responsibility and even stayed with you while at the vet. Let us know how he's doing... I hope he is not traumatized from the experience. |
I will say a prayer for your baby. Teddy was nipped in the behind by a dog once and he was afraid for a long time of any dog he saw that resembled that dog. I think he has forgotten all about it by now. I hope Hepburn won't be too scared of other dogs after this. I applaud the shop owner for taking the responsibility for his own dog. |
oh my... what a bad horrible experience. I am glad that the owner of the shop stood by you and your little one, at least that is a positive :p I am sending prayers that you will be ok and your little furbut will be fine, please keep us posted. I am so glad you were fast enough to get you baby safe and hopefully on the way to mending |
I am so sorry that this happened. How horrible to watch! I can't even imagine what you and your poor baby went through. I pray all goes well tomorrow and that he overcomes this event quickly. As for the owner, it was poor judgment, but I'm glad that they are taking responsibility and doing the right thing. Good to know there are still people who try to make things right. God bless and keep us posted. |
Well it was a long night but Hepburn is doing well this morning. Moving around more, wanted to go out when I got up, even drank some water which he wouldn't do at all last night. When out for his walk, two dogs walked by (always not on a leash so I picked him up) and one even ran up to me holding him and I turned around so he couldn't get my baby. Hepburn, however, wanted to get down and greet the dog which I was happy about. Once he is better and I am less scared, I think he will be fine with other dogs (although I will always pick him up from now on when a large dog walks near us unleashed. There are no leash laws here in Berlin so almost every dog is off a leash. My Hepburn is always on a leash unless we are at the little dog park or in the big park away from the road and it is relatively empty). I will update later today after I know the results of his surgery. The vet is having me drop him off really early, around 10am my time, but won't acutally operate until about 1:30pm. I will hear sometime in the evening when he is awake so I can pick him up. I still wish I went to my own vet, they let me stay with him until he is asleep and hold him while he is waking up when he went under last time and I think that is much better for me and Hepburn. I called my vet this morning and they said they can't do the surgery today anyways, so I am pretty much stuck since Easter weekend means everything is closed from tomorrow until tuesday. Keep up praying and thank you all once again for the support. |
What a horrifying experience! I would probably end up being more afraid than Snickers to let him be around other unfamiliar dogs again! I hope your baby gets well soon! |
Keeping you both in my prayers.... |
I'm glad Hepburn is getting around well this morning. I'll keep you both in my prayers today for a successful surgery. Sending him get well hugs. Bonny |
