Strange Bump I noticed a strange bump on Veruca's right side yesterday. It's about the size of a dime, above her stifle/hip area and doesn't involve the joint. I think it's in the soft tissue. The bump is round, mobile, and Veruca isn't bothered by it at all when I touch it or move it around. She is walking/running/jumping normally without interference from the bump. Some background, Veruca is 1 yr 2 mos old, weighs ~4lbs. She has an appointment for her 1 yr booster shots at the end of the month. She uses Advantage multi for flea/worm protection. She goes outside 4-5x's/day for walks, but I didn't notice any ticks on her (but we're in S. FL so they're not so prevalent). She did bring one tiny ant in on her paw yesterday. Has anyone had strange bumps develop before? Thanks for the advice! |
If it's under the skin, it's probably just a lipoma. Could be a bite reaction. Wouldn't hurt to give some Benadryl to see if it goes down. But because there is no explanation for it, the vet has to see it. |
Please be sure to get her Rabies Booster and her DHPP Booster 4 weeks apart from each other. Safer that way.:D |
Just an update that Veruca's vet said the bump was nothing to be concerned about. She was too young for anything malignant and it has shrunk significantly in size since my original post. Since Veruca had a histiocytoma on her lip a few months ago, the vet thinks it's some kind of tiny cyst that should resolve on its own. Veruca did get her shots and will be going back for her last shot next month. She has had no problems/reactions from her vaccines thus far. :-) |
