kailee is throwing up too much!!!! hello everyone, well today i left kailee around 8:30 to go to school, i came back around 12 and saw that she had thrown up a very small amount of brown stuff so i picked it up and thought it was normal. A few minutes later she threw up yellow liquid 3 times (the first time there was grass in it) all in very small amounts. she then seemed fine ad i took her outside to get some air for a little bit. when we came back inside she threw up yellow around 3 times again. (very little amounts) after that she would try to throw up nothing came out until right now that she threw up yellow again. the vet told me to feed her chicken and rice gerber but she simply refuses to eat it and she will not drink any water. right now she seems pretty tired and just wants to sleep. i dont know if i should let her sleep it off because thats whats happened before although she has never thrown up this much before. she doesnt have diahrrea. what do i do????:( |
When Rosie was sick and throwing up, the vet had me put a little sugar in the water to attract her to drink. It did work believe it or not. You have to worry about dehydration. I feel the water intake is more important than food at this point. When you talked to the vet did they ask you to bring her in? |
I am sorry Kailee is not feeling well. If she has thrown up so much she may get dehydrated quickly. I would try and get her in to a vet tonight to get her fluids. Do you have any nutrical? Have you tried some canned food, sometimes they will eat that. I would worry about her going hypoglycemic. How old is she and how much does she weigh? Please keep us posted. |
my vet is a 24 hour vet so he comes to my house and he said we would have to check her but for now to give her gerber... he said he would be here in an hour or so. she is not shaking and has no diahrrea she is just throwing up yellow bile. sometimes my little brother (without knowing) over feeds her can that be a cause????? |
she is 9 months... and i do not know how much she weighs.. my vet never weighs her...is that bad? kailee is my first puppy so i do not know much about dogs. i do not have nutrical, do they sell them at any grocery store or is it at a pet store? my vet said that she might have a worm since she ate grass... im getting very anxious and i just want to see her back to normal! |
I hope Kailee is feeling better! |
Thank you so much for your thoughts!!! Please pray im very nervous for her! |
I am so glad your vet is coming soon. I bought a postal scale and I weigh mine on that. In order to prescribe the right dosage of medicine your vet needs to know her weight. I would make sure your little brother realizes how sick a dog can get when over fed or fed the wrong foods. The nutrical is sold at pet stores. In a pinch you can give karo syrup, pancake syrup or a little sugar water if they seem to be going hypoglycemic. Your vet should be able to tell you if she needs something like that. I will keep her in my prayers. |
Yes i always tell him and ill go buy a scale as soon as possible .. my poor baby is falling asleep sitting down!!! she looks so tired! :( |
I would get some sugar in to her if it were me. It sounds like she is having symptoms of low sugar. Try and give her a little water with some sugar in it or pancake syrup on your finger and let her lick it. When is the vet going to be there? They can go down so quickly, I don't want to scare you even more but she needs to be seen ASAP. |

sorry Patti - we posted at the same time ;) |
You might try to call the vet again and see if he can make it sooner. Wouldn't hurt to try. If she is lethargic than he needs to know. Please do give the karo, nutri cal, or pancake syrup. The sugar will help some. |
Yes, it's bad that the vet never weighs her. There is no safe way to accurately dose medications without. Sounds very dangerous to me. I'd be finding someone else... Are her gums pink and wet or are they pale and/or tacky to the touch? She probably needs fluids by this point and could also need sugar. Only thing is one of the diseases that causes vomiting like this - nothing is supposed to go by mouth for at least 24 hours. so you'll need to follow your vet's advice, but if you can get her to a 24 hour hospital with capibilities to weigh, give fluids, and medicate, that would be best. |
thank you so much for your advise and concern.. the vet came to the house shortly after and gave her some medication for vomit... he sent me to buy pedialyte for her and more gerber. i did give her a little syrup before he got here as you guys recommended. right now she is a little more active and i just gave her some pedialyte and let her lick some gerber off of my finger. she is sleeping right now so im just gonna let her rest and see how she wakes up tomorrow. the vet said she had to be under observation so hopefully my baby gets a lot better! please pray! thank you guys! |
