Spayed and not going to the bathroom Hazel just got was spayed 2 days ago. We picked her up yesterday. When she got home she ate a lot of food and drank a lot of water. The vet told us she didn't drink or eat much when she was there. My concern is that she hasn't gone to the bathroom since we picked her up. Is this normal? Please help me!:confused: |
I am sure she will go when she needs to go. That poor little girl went a long time without eating, so it will take some time. She'll probably leave you a surprise later today or this evening. Let us know how she does.:) |
Often, after a spay, it takes a few days before they have a bowel movement. I am sure she will be weeweeing very soon. They all recover at a different pace, she may have already gone and you didn't see it? Is she walking around ok? As long as she is eating and drinking normally things should start flowing soon. If you think it is concerning, I would call the vet and see what they think. Sending healing wishes for your little girl! |
Hazel went and urinated. Waiting for the other #. :) THANKS FOR YOUR RESPONSES. |

Sometimes as with people our doggies can get constipated after surgery. You can give her some canned plain pumpkin not the pie filling, or fresh or frozen green beans to help with the constipation |
updates with Hazel She has been going to the bathroom regularly now. I guess I just needed to be little more patient. She's slowly healing :) She's almost back to her normal self, minus the cone. Her eating habit is pretty much back to normal. YAY! Thanks so much for all your responses! :) |
That's great! I'm so happy for you. It had just been a long time since she had eaten and had been drinking, so it took awhile. I can certainly understand your worry. I'm sure she'll be back to 100% in no time. She's getting excellent care.:) |
