Reaction to Vaccination? I took Lula in for shots a couple days ago (it’s a bit too early to reach anyone at my vet’s office). I came home yesterday and she was curled up on the couch when I sat down next to her so curled up as close to me as she could and cuddled my for a good hour. I had to leave for a meeting and when I came back she was still looking to cuddle up and was what I would describe as “sleepy” (lethargic?). Last night while in bed she started panting. She has never done this (aside from vigorous play or very hot summer walks). Obviously I plan to talk t my vet but was wondering if anyone else has experienced this type of reaction after vaccination shots. Any information is helpful. |
well i do know that being a little lethargic is pretty common after shots, but if you have any concern i would definately go back to see what the dogtor says. hopefully everythings fine but better safe than sorry. |

I just turn into a big scared mom when she acts any differently than the 3 pounds of crazy that she normally is. |
My Button's panted & drooled after her first rabies. I think the drooling was low blood sugar though, I had no clue about hypoglycemia back then, and she really stressed from the car & the vet that day. I'm just very lucky the breeder had me buy puppy-cal to give her several times a day. She said it was a "bonding" tool & ensured she got proper nutrition during her puppy-hood. I don't recall the panting lasting more than one day though, the drooling subsided after a few hours. |
How is Lula today? What did the vet say? I hope everything has subsided and she is back to her playful self. |
How is the punkin' doing today? Some lethargy might be normal for some dogs. Check her gums, make sure they're pink, check her 'cheeks' for any swelling, make sure she seems alert. Doesn't hurt to give a call to your vet and run this by a tech or vet. Most true reactions occur shortly after the shot. |
Hope she's doing better today... what vaccines did she get? |
