If she screaming she is in alot of pain because dogs hide their pain |
I would also be concerned about her neck. If it continues and the vet really doesn't want to do anything, then it would be time to see a specialist. It certainly wouldn't be wrong to go through the ER dept. of a specialty hospital if you want it looked into immediately (don't have to wait for appt.). I'd really be considering this. |

Oh man~I'm so sorry............I feel like such a dumdum!! |
Kind of does sound like a pinched nerve or something from getting into a certain position. I know your nerves must be frazzled with worry. Hopefully a neuro and or ortho consult can get you some answers and this baby some medication and treatment. Poor little thing. |
Thank you all again for your replies and suggestions. I will insist on Xrays for Princess Chloe today. Poor thing, she had a rough night last night and this morning she was waiting for Mami to let her out of her pen to got potty... Her last episode was at 4am and this morning she was ready to start a new day like nothing had happend. I'm keeping her in her pen just so she can rest until we go see her vet. at 3PM today. During her episodes at night she's in so much pain that she doesn't want to be touched, and she's standing stiftly on all fours with her head slightly hanging down. Can someone tell me what is AAI??? I'm new at this and don't know what this is. Thanks again everyone, I'm so blessed to have found YorkieTalk! |
AAI is when the axis that the skulls sits on does not properly support the head. |
Poor Princess. I am sorry to hear she is having such painful episodes. I hope they are able to find what is causing her problems at the Vet's today. Sending prayers for a successful diagnosis and treatment to end her pain. |
I am so sorry Princess is having these problems. I'm glad she is going to the Vet this afternoon. I pray all is well with her. I'll keep looking for an update. |
I would not read about AAI because it very well may not be that and it will frighten you. I said it for you to mention to your vet as a possibility. I just was trying to impress upon you that there are some things that should not be manipulated by alternative treatments ... and suggest that you ask for xrays before proceeding further. All of this is simply something to discuss with your vet. |
I hope all goes well at the vet today! It is definitely concerning for a pup to scream and act the way she is. If your vet is not worried about it, I would certainly follow up with a specialist. |
Prayers for your little Princess! :( Just curious, does she nap during the day? If so, it seems odd that she would not have a daytime episode if she's sleeping in the same place/position as at night. |
Again thank you all for your quick replies. Thanks for the info on AAI, I did some research and the signs are very close to what she is going through. Thinking back, Princess Chloe went to her first puppy social birthday party on 2/20, and an older Yorkie pounced on her for getting close to his mom. I turn my attention away for a few minutes and that all it took. I held her in my lap for the rest of the party, and she seemed to be fine no signs of discomfort. She has this rough way to playing with her stuffed toys, biting them and trashing them around with her head without letting go. She pulled the ear out of her favorite bear (ha!ha!) Yorkie energy to the max!! We've taken her stuff toys away since she started with the episodes, and I'm just thinking after reading all the info on AAI that she may have the area swollen, maybe the initial trauma of the Yorkie pouncing on her may have brought this on. I will post the results of my visit this afternoon letting you know what the vet. said. Thanks again everyone, God bless you all! |
Another possibility would be the microchip migrating and touching a nerve... or put in the wrong place... can you feel where it is? Any swelling around it? Can double check this on xray too... Good Luck today! |
Thanks for your reply KJC! When I took Princess last week to be check by the Vet. who did her spaying and microchipping, I asked him if her episodes could be due to the microchip pinching a nerve and he did a physical exam and located the chip and moved it around. Today I finally got Princess Chloe to the vet. and her vet. which is at the SPCA did a full physical exam, had blood work and urine test done, and tomorrow at 7:45am we're going to take her in for Xrays under sedation not anesthesia. The vet sent us home with liquid Metacam for pain and inflamation once a day with food, and liquid tramadol every 8-12 hrs for pain as needed. All this of course adjusted doses for her weight. I'm giving her water by syringe which she loves and feeding her by hand. I hope she'll sleep tonight, she just wants to be in my lap:(. Tomorrow is another day pls keep her in your prayers. |
Oh, I am so glad you got her in as she sounded pretty miserable - and you did, too. I hope you find out what is wrong so this little girl can get back to good health. I hope you and Princess have a restful night. You will be in my prayers tonight. |
