my turn for a stress call This morning the pups woke at 6:30 as usual to eat. They both ate fine. In their usual routine, they were in their pen playing and Maya started barking...just little yips. We went to see what was up....and she was not acting right. She was shaking and looking sad. First thing we did was give her nutrical....but so far it has had no effect. She is wrapped in a blanket and being held. How long do I wait before panicking? |

Panic if you see her acting lethargic or she doesn't stop shaking or is showing symptoms of being seriously ill - The Nutrical is good - make sure she drinks water - Pedialite is better if you have some and have an emergency place to go all ready IF you need to act...I don't want to scare you.... but YOU are the best judge of her behaviour and it's always better to be safe than sorry.... I had places all mapped out ahead of time when my girls were little so I knew if on a weekend something happened - I could just jump in my car and knew who was open and who wasn't...Just a tip.... Good luck and maybe she just got spooked by something ....Yorkies can shake for different reasons and I hope she's going to be ok.... If she won't eat...maybe try a little boiled chicken to see if you can get some food in her ? |
I would call your vet right away ~ i just feel you can never be to careful. I hope everything is ok, keep us posted. |
This might seem random but if you have any woods, bushes etc around your house where your baby could be playing check her paws. Harley acted the same way and all the cuddling in the world couldn't stop his crying until I took a look at his paws.. He had the worlds smallest thorn in his paw pad and once it was gone he was fine again. Just a thought. :) |
Thank you for all your responses. I did talk to the vet and they said to watch her closely for a little while and if it didnt change to bring her in. For the last 20 minutes she has seemed better. She is not shaking anymore and seems to be getting back to her normal wild self. Not sure what happened, but it was scary!! Thankfully my vet is at an animal hospital and they have regular Saturday and Sunday hours! In addition to that, they are 2 minutes from the house! Definatly a good thing!! Thanks again for the help! |
OH GOOD !!! I was planning to keep checking your thread to see how she was...that's great news !! Good mom and good work - maybe she just got spooked or wanted some loving ? |

LOL...not a nursing mom...but thank you for your concern anyway!!! Maya has not been shaking anymore today....and she has eaten and drank regularly, although she is still not completly herself. She had a had loose stool just now :( I am glad she has an appointment with her vet in the morning. Unless some of you think I should take her tonight!!! |
I\'m glad she has a vet appt tomorrow.. Hope all goes well for both of you. Now on whether or not she should go tonight, that\'s really something only you can decide. |
