How to tell a fever? I just got my Lyla a few weeks ago, and I have never had a puppy before. I was wondering if you could tell when a puppy had a fever and what to do. If they do what can you give them to make it go down. |
Normal is around 100.5 - 102.5. Higher or lower could indicate a problem (slight deviations can be okay). Best to take it rectally. Any thermometer with KY Jelly. Insert about an inch and follow the timing directions for the particular thermometer. Vet is needed if it's too far out of normal range. I find that the at home thermometers don't work for Ellie, so I've given up on temp. taking for now. |
Thank you! She hasn't been throwing up or anything but she was sneezing, but just sleeping a lot more than normal. She may just be tired. |
