Thick crusty yellowish bumps, one on each ear? I can't get Poppy into the vet until next week, I just noticed yesterday she has one on each ear on the inside of the ear. They're raised bumps, slightly crusty but not crusting at all, just that FEELING of crusty. They appear to be yellow in color and aren't deep inside the ear, just on the inside of her ears on the skin. I just spent a while googling this and a million different "conditions" popped up that seem really scary. Does anyone have any ideas on what this may be and if it warrants a very expensive emergency vet visit? I honestly have no idea how long they've been there, but she was just recently groomed a few weeks ago and they weren't there. I'd rather wait until her regular vet can see her, but obviously I'm concerned. Also, she almost never goes outside, she hates it outside so it's hard for me to imagine it's any type of parasite, although I'm not counting that out here. Any ideas? |
If the bumps aren't bothering her I think you can wait til Poppy's visit with the vet next week. She was recently groomed? Could she have gotten something from the grooming equipment? |
Oh goodness, I hadn't even thought of that, I sure hope not. I hope it's just some little skin thing that will require a cream and clear up, she's always been a fan of scratching her ears, but don't all dogs? I haven't noticed her overly scratching or anything. |
I have a great phone relationship with my vet and his staff, we take Joey in for yearly checkups, but if a question comes up during the year, I give them a call. They do not tell me to come in if it's not necessary, but can ask you relevant questions, to see if this would be something important. I've just learned that the earlier you diagnosis anything and treat it, the better the results. I hope you let us know what you find out about this, whatever it is, I've never read about this before. Is it possible it's just wax, have you tried cleaning it? |
I agree with Nancy. You should call your vet! |
It could be scabs from your puppy scratching their ears. Mine sometimes ends up getting yellowish crusty scabs on his body because of his scratching. |
And, it could also be a staph infection. Better not to guess....call your vet and ask for an opinion. :) |
